Book Haul September 2024

Hey everyone~

Haha, I thought August was a fast one, but no, apparently September was even faster. Hello all! Welcome to my Book Haul for September!

This month was a roller coaster. My dad’s medications (new with the old) didn’t mix that well and he was so sleepy, drowsy, and unhappy, plus on top of that he fell on his head again. This time his forehead. 🙁 They stopped with his medication and well, when I visited last week he was much clearer and looked happier. So that makes me happy!
Seriously, I was just about to talk about my aunt/uncle not understanding that while my hubby and I do a fine job in life, we still have autism. And low and behold, I got a Whatsapp from them. Is everyone’s family this complicated or is it me?

Then halfway through September my hubby and I noticed Coco was limping and it was first thought to be ligament in her knee, but turned out to be her left hip. She has Legg-Calvé-Perthes, and that meant that they had to operate and remove the femur/hip head. She’s had the operation last week and is still recovering. At the moment she goes from very sleepy (and snoring super loudly) to very active (and we have to stop her from doing too much). Next week the stitches will be removed and then it is time to slowly recover and get things going again.

Other than those two major events, there were also plenty of fun moments! My hubby celebrated his birthday! WHOO! Cake/brownies/bunch of cookies (made by me)! A fun day out. And then the next week a small birthday party with more yummy food. We visited the nearby zoo we got a subscription with and saw many cute animals + a new enclosure which was very pretty. There were tons of library visits. Plus, yesterday I bought some more Halloween items, so I can decorate the inside of my home even more. Haha, I was planning on not getting anything this year. But then I found a sign for the door of my favourite Jack from Nightmare Before Christmas and a cute table cloth with ghosts and then I saw some more items. Teehee.
I also enjoyed the weather though it should really make up its mind. One day I will be wearing sweaters and long skirts/pants, the next I am in my slippers and short dresses. XD Plus, I also am enjoying my garden much. I am letting it go a bit as next year we need to get everything overhauled because of the works on the streets in my neighbourhood, but my plants don’t seem to mind the minimum care, haha. The flowers and plants are just constantly going, I am loving it! Upcoming week I am hoping to do some pruning, my hortensia and one of my trees need some pruning for the upcoming seasons.

I bought quite a nice stack of books this month! I am very excited about them. Yes, I read most of them. There are 4 that I am saving for Halloween (EEP, just a few days before Spooktober) that are on the top of the stack, and 1 is on hold for now (Gewone Mensen). But the rest I read, my favourite would be De Regels of Floor (yellow book).

I also got two books for my Kindle, both spooky books~

No list today, I am just so tired with Coco, my dad, and my head being too full at that moment. But you can at least see a photograph of it!

  1. Wow Mehsi, I’m tired just from reading all of that! Family is complicated, you don’t chose them and you are supposed to get along with them, but sometimes that is not easy. You do you and ignore your aunt and uncle no matter what they say. You know your dad best. Your dad is very lucky that he has you. You spoil him endlessly. Please give more snuggles and hugs to my girl, Coco, and tell her no snoring loudly!😂 Enjoy the rest of your weekend and have a stress free and happy week with your new books!🌞🍂📚☕🦄💜

    1. Thank you, Susan. Yeah, it would be cool if you could just choose your family, but sadly no. I am doing that at the moment, at times share about my dad, but that is it. Nothing more.
Awww, yes, and again I am so happy I can be there for him now. That I still have these moments with him. That I can make him laugh and smile.
I will definitely do that, she is a real cuddlebug now, she already wanted 100% hugs, but these days it is more like 200%. 😍😍 Haha, I tried telling her that and she just snored more. 😂😂
Thank you, so far the week is going pretty fine, a bit stressful, but I have had fun reading as well~ I hope your week is also going great, enjoy all your new shiny Netgalley books.

  2. Oof, what a mix of emotions! Glad you got the birthday to have some happy!

My girl got some bad news too- one of the mitral valves in her heart doesn’t close properly.. which made a part of the left side of her heart enlarged. So we got medication twice a day for her to stay with us longer & slow the progress of the disease.

Yay for books!! And I love halloween decor 🥰 makes me happy

    1. Yes, I really needed that birthday and all the planning. Phew.

Oh no, your poor baby. I am so sorry to hear that. Enjoy all your time with her, and give her a big hug from me.

Same! And my country is finally, albeit slowly, embracing the Halloween vibes, so yas!!
