Review for Little Red

Review for Little Red

Little Red by Bethan WoollvinA fun play on the Red Riding Hood story! The wolf is going to have a hard time, oh yes.

I saw this book, in Dutch, over at Library #1 and just had to pick it up. I just love a good retelling or new version of a story I love, and I do love Little Red!

In this one we follow a Red Riding Hood but now with an attitude + one who has no fear for anything (she is so brave). She isn’t entirely happy with having to go to grandma and bring some food and then some annoying wolf keeps popping up. A wolf who thinks that she doesn’t notice his evil deeds. Oh boy, I laughed so much when the wolf thought he was so smart and all the while Little Red knew exactly what was up and she was not impressed.

The ending made me laugh so hard, that was perfectly done.

The art was a lot of fun, you can clearly see that this is one Red who is done with it all.

All in all, a really fun picture book that had me in stitches quite a few times. I need to see if I can find Bethan Woollvin’s other fairy tale retelling picture book, because I am curious to see what is happening there.
