Review: Rago Gets A Pet Dragon

Review: Rago Gets A Pet Dragon

Rago Gets A Pet Dragon by Matilda Peter, Yellow cover with a boy and a dragonI received this book from BookSirens/the author in exchange of an honest review.

When I saw this one in the mail for BookSirens ARCs I just knew I had to apply to review this one! It looked so fun and cute, and I can tell you, it was!

In this one we meet a boy named Rago who goes to a magical school to learn spells, wizarding skills, and all that. He is looking forward to a pet a lot, but what happens when that pet is a wonderful blue dragon who brings to life a bit more chaos. A bit more magical, a bit more danger when he sneezes, a bit more extra, which just made me smile. It was great fun to see Rago try his best for his new pet/friend and see him figure out how dragons work and how to make them happy. I had such a laugh at the beds though, Rago doesn’t look like that heavy, but I guess in a bed for kids he is and the beds clearly don’t approve of him, haha. And that is just the start because a lot of things happen, Rago will not have a boring day again with this dragon in his life. Especially not when the dragon has a cold… or tries out a new spell.

I love that the book is all in rhyme, that made me smile a lot.

The illustrations were wonderful though I just had one little nit-pick, I would have liked to see the dragon a bit smaller. More compact. Still a chonky boy of course so the beds would still tremble before him, but just a bit less like a bigger kid that he was in this story.

All in all, this one made me giggle, laugh, and I just wished I could step into the story and be part of this world!
