Review: Lulu, Lou and YOU: A Volcano Voyage

Lulu, Lou and YOU by Dennis Kavak, Katharina Brand, Two kids in space with a planet with a volcano behind themI received this book from BookSirens in exchange of an honest review.

I just couldn’t resist this adorable/gorgeous looking picture book while browsing BookSirens, so of course I had to request it! Plus, it is all about space and I love that~

In this adorable colourful picture book we meet Lulu and Lou (love love the names) who need our help! They have a mission and it is filled with creatures and colour, well, I have to say I wish I could just pop in the book and grab their hand. But we all know that is sadly not possible, so I just flipped to the next page! We head to a fun planet with a smoking volcano and we are immediately tasked with a task, find the Rainbow Rufflebeaks that are in the book! From their the adventure starts for real and we get puzzles, quests, questions, search and find stuff, and I was just so excited that this one was such an interactive book! I love those! They totally engage you with the story and makes you a true part of the story (and of Lulu and Lou’s team). Of course, I couldn’t do all of it, because I had an ebook, but BOY I was THIS close to just grabbing one of my monitors and move it around like a steering wheel (in the end opting for not doing it despite my ADHD cheering to do, haha). But this was just oodles of fun and boy what an adventure!

I loved the way the book was written, not in rhyme, or at least not that I could see, but it was very playful and popping.

The art was just one of my favourite parts of the book. I love how colourful it is and how gorgeous everything is drawn. Plus, fun character designs (I did have a laugh when they were driving the car and Lulu’s hair was just floating behind them because it was that long!

Oh, and I did find the three birds! I was a bit distracted by the other things, so I did see them, but my mind didn’t register them fully, haha. So I had to go back. But I don’t mind that!

I would love to go on another adventure with this duo and so I hope that the author will make more books! crosses fingers
