New Year’s Book Tag (2025 Edition)

Afternoon all!

Guruguru, GIF, Red-hair, staff, book

It is time for the very first book tag of 2025! Hello to the New Year’s Book Tag! 2025 Edition!

This one is a recurring tag on my blog! Each year, since 2021, I have been doing it on my blog and I just love seeing what my answers are each year and look back at previous years. This year I also had a lot of fun thinking about books, goals, and more.

Let’s get to it! And let me know in the comments if you have any fun resolutions/bookish plans~

How many books are you planning to read in 2025?

I don’t do numbers. I just grab a book and read. I just want to read read and read some more. That is all for me. If that ends with 50 books or over 500, we will see. XD

Name 5 books you didn’t get to in 2024 but want to make a priority in 2025.

🥰Mermaids Don’t Drown by various authors (yep, this one is still on my list, haha).
🥰Til Death Do Us Bard by Rose Black (got this one in August/September, was planning to read it then, but well, life came between)
🥰First Term at Fernside by Sheena Wilkinson (pre-ordered this one in August, then in September it got on my Kindle, but then I forgot all about it, oops)
🥰My December Darling (pre-ordered in November/December, was planning on reading it in December, but didn’t get to it)
🥰Inaka: Portraits of Life in Rural Japan by various authors (technically got to it in 2025, but then I got bored of it and stopped reading, I hope to continue reading and seeing if it gets better)

A nice blend this year! Last year I had horror, this year it is all sorts of stuff. How fun! I cannot wait to see if I will read everything.

What genre do you want to read more of?

I really read pretty much anything already, so this is always a tough one. But I think this year I want to focus on non-fiction and horror. I got several fab horror books on my ARC shelves plus I have spied some fab ones coming out.

Name 3 non-book-related goals for 2023

🤩The chest of drawers. I planned this one for 2023, we got the dog, I planned this one in 2024, and on the day my post went live I got a call from my mom about my dad which meant most of the year was Stress, Chaos, long public transport trips to visit my dad. I hope that this year I may get to this chest of drawers and paint it. I really need to grab some of the reins of my life back and go for me more. I will still visit my dad, duh, of course, but maybe every two weeks instead of every week/every 9-10 days. And then call in between.
🤩Visit the beach with Coco. We wanted to that last year, but then her hip went bye bye and we found out she had to have an operation, so we haven’t been able to visit AT ALL. So I want to rectify that in 2025 and visit the beach with my baby a lot of times. She LOVES sand, it is like the dream place for her.
🤩And a duo-shot, do more fun activities with my hubby (we already do a lot together, but at times life just passes us by and we forget, like I wanted to do something big in 2024 as we were 15 years together, but in the end we just went for dinner instead of a fun weekend somewhere) + relax more/stress less. In regards to my blog that means not stress too much about posts, which I tried out last year and it went OK-ish to not so OK-ish, so I hope this year I can really be strong about it. 1 or 2 posts is enough a day.

What’s a book you’ve had forever that you still need to read?

Well, other than the Mermaid book from Netgalley, I tend to clean up my shelves pretty regularly so a lot of older books disappear.

One word that you’re hoping 2023 will be.

One word? Mmm. Happy? I would like to be even happier this year. Have a happier year. Feel better in my skin.

    1. Does Cleo love the beach a lot as well? Coco thought it was heaven the first time we went, haha. We are planning on visiting the beach for her birthday in 8 days if the weather allows it. And hopefully in the spring Coco (and also Cleo) can go to beach a lot of times~

  1. I’m always looking for more horror books to read. I’m always looking for authors similar to Eric LaRocca and Nick Cutter! I envy your empty shelf. I have so much to read (on my physical bookshelf) and so little time.

  2. I might have to check out Inaka! I spent a year living in the inaka awhile back 🙂 More non-fiction in 2025 is also one of my goals. There’s so many interesting books out there that I would like to try before they become outdated, haha. I’ve also been getting more interested in horror – I feel like there’s a lot more variety these days as well.
