Review: My Kitten is a Picky Eater, Vol.1
I received this manga from Edelweiss/publisher in exchange of an honest review.
Of course I had to get this one! It sounded super adorable and just LOOK AT THAT COVER! You just want to read that, no?
Well, I didn’t expect that with just the first 21 pages I would be in utter tears. Good lord. In this one a man finds a stray kitten alone almost dead in the snow, he decides to adopt it and take it home despite never having taken care of cats. He tries everything to get the kitty to eat but due to a past bad experience (which also led to the poor thing almost dying) the cat has a distrust for food, and we see that even when almost dying from hunger he doesn’t try anything and we see how the new owner is totally desperate. Thankfully, the vets are helpful and he tries new things. And I was just crying, especially the last bit. OMG. I thought this would just be about a picky eater, not a whole trauma. cries some more I just love that the guy didn’t give up and ran to and fro to make sure the kitten would eat!
And from that moment we see our MC try to get along with his cat and the cat with him. Yes, we don’t just get the owner’s side and thoughts but also the little kitten, and I was just dying in cuteness, happiness, and oh yes, more tears. I just loved seeing them get closer and closer, trust each other more, and also have a lot of fun. He is so dedicated to making sure the kitten gets his yummy food, tries out new recipes, and his house is becoming more and more a cat paradise, haha, he even has tons of things still that he wants to buy. He is really becoming a cat dad. And it was lovely seeing the cat grow more happy, confident, and find happiness with his new life.
I loved that our MC had people who were there to help him out. Not just the vet is there to help out (and even gave him a manual with recipes) but also a friend and other people are there to assist. It was just so wonderful to see everyone come together! From Tetsu the best friend to Sahara the girl who works at the cat café and is more than happy to give tips and help out.
BUT THAT ENDING.. WHYYYYY! flips table You can’t just end the volume like THAT! I now NEED volume 2!
The art was just the cutest, the designs for the cats? melts Too adorable. Yuki is just the cutest thing with his big head and tiny body, cute little socks.
Oh, and I love that we got to see the story of the evil cat + learn about the Author’s Cat, Shishamo!
All in all, I need more. This was just the cutest, but be warned, have tissues ready because you will cry. Recommended!

This sounds absolutely adorable (besides the trauma– poor kitty!). It looks like the artwork is really sweet as well. We need more cat dad stories in this world. 🙂
I know right, and yes, poor baby but thankfully he found a great cat dad! We definitely do. I am eyeing an another one that I hope to read soon~
