Review: Shiver Point: Under A Howling Moon
Welcome to Shiver Point! We are back! This time we are going camping with a dash of howling and a nice moon shining brightly~
🌜 Loved that this one focussed mostly on Ollie! The first book in the series was all about Alex, the next was about Riley, and now it is Ollie. Of course we also get the POV of the other kids, but the main focus is Ollie. His birthday. His dad. I love that and I am curious to see who is next of the group, we still have Mo and Sophia left! Given that so far it’s been boy, girl, boy, I am guessing Sophia!
🌜 The cover is just perfection, I love that in these covers you can also see who the main character is of the group, whose story it is.
🌜 I mean seriously, why do people want to stay in Shiver Point? So far we had spooky scarecrows desperate to get what they want, aliens, and now apparently the whole freaking forest is one big well don’t go there place. I guess most people just tend to not look/forget?
🌜 I love that we are going camping, and that the place of camping is a place named Howlmoor Forest (which is just the perfect name and already gave me all the spooky vibes).
🌜 I love that the author didn’t wait around, but instead things immediately go spooky/scary the first night! There are spooky howls in the night, and I was just so full of goosebumps and wanted to hide so badly when that walked around the tent and was sniffing around for someone to take/eat. shivers I am glad that I haven’t gone camping in a while, otherwise I would have seriously reconsidered, haha.
🌜 Things really got scary. Just like with the other two books the author isn’t shying away from making it terrifying. I thought scarecrows were bad, but this story I was just constantly terrified and on the edge of my chair. The werewolf was just so scary, not to mention many chase scenes, and scary moments happening. shivers
🌜 I hope Ollie has learned not to bring out spooky stories before going camping, haha. Because as we could see his friends didn’t believe him the first time (or at least most of them didn’t and the ones that did were hesitant), aka the boy who cried wolf. I don’t blame them. If my bestie would talk about a scout troop being eaten by something monstrous and the first night he would say something happened? I would also be like, sure man, now go to sleep. XD
🌜 I loved seeing the Shiver Squad do their best to save Ollie’s dad, think up some fabulous ways to do so and kick some werewolf ass in the progress. Even Mo has some great ideas.
🌜 The last part of the story when the full moon was rising and things were getting very desperate/dangerous. Well, I loved that part, though again, it also terrified the wits out of me.
🌜 The titles to the chapters! A lot of books go for numbers, but this one had words describing in a way the chapter.
🌜 That librarian! Yep, she pops up again and is here to help the squad. I love that she knows what is up and tries to help the squad as much as she can. By cryptic advice, plenty of books, and some hints. I would definitely love to learn more about this character.
All in all, I am excited that the next book is releasing in just a month! One advantage of having had to wait for this book, haha. I would highly recommend this one (and the whole series) to everyone! If you are in need for something spooky/scary, be sure to check it out!
