After SO many months of pre-ordering, praying, hoping, crying, more pre-ordering, praying again, I finally got the book at the end of November. GOOD LORD. Back in May/June 2024 I pre-ordered it on Amazon because this is one of my most hyped books, then apparently things got cancelled and the book seemingly vanished. Then a bit later I found the book again on another site, pre-ordered it, got cancelled again, searched high and low for it but no one had it, and then finally around October I found the book again on Archonia which I quickly pre-ordered/back-ordered and GOOD LORD it was finally delivered. I had already fully given up on this book ever coming home. I am not sure why this book was so badly handled, but it is ridiculous. Everyone knows this would be a hit, a lot of GF fans have looked forward to it and it seems the publishers/printers were just not able to get enough books out. I hope that if there is ever another Gravity Falls book that it is handled better.
So this one was one of my hyped books, and has became top favourite book of the year 2024. Nothing else topped it, haha.
At the point of writing this one (December) I haven’t solved all the puzzles yet, hopefully by the time this review pops up I will have done so, I am so curious what kind of hidden things are hidden!
In this fantastic book we get all the deets on Bill. A villain of villains. The evil. The bringer of pain, strange dreams, but also grand plans. The one who will enter your brain and hijack it. The one who brings the apocalypse. The one you don’t want to mess with. And one of my favourite villains. We read about Bill’s adventures, get hints/connections to the Gravity Falls main series, we get his opinions on all sorts of things, see how he learned of the prophecy, figure out where Bill is now, and more. It was such a ride to read, sometimes very creepy because at times it seemed Bill would just pop out of the book. It was fantastically delightful and I just love how it felt like Bill was talking to me (I hope it was a feeling and not actually Bill in my head, mm, I will have to see if strange things have happened after I read it that I don’t know about).
Next to Billyboy we also read about Sixer, or Ford Pines. Not just how Bill feels about him, but also how he feels about Bill. That is right. The cast from Gravity Falls also comes in to talk about things, especially about Bill of course. Most of the time it is Ford trying to tell the reader NOT to sign any contracts and tells us how he found out about Bill. But we also get some bits from Mabel and Dipper.
The book is fantastic, I just flew right through it and I loved all the bits. From advertisements to stories to warnings to everything else. There is never a dull moment, and I am saying that as myself (hopefully) and not being sponsored by Bill (well, you never know of course, heeheeheee). This one will go right next to my other Gravity Falls books in their own little corner in my bookcases (protected by a Mabel Funko covered in unicorn blood, haha).
I would HIGHLY recommend this book, but be sure to first watch the series otherwise there will be some spoilers. Now I really want to do yet another re-watch of the series.
