Review: Hot Summer
A really fun book about reality shows with a good dose of romance, and more~
😍 LOVED the reality show bits, that is also the main reason why I got this book, haha. I just cannot resist a book with that in it. And I really liked this one with the challenges, to additional people added and bringing in more chaos, to elimination events, and much more. I also love that we see day to day stuff, because how does one handle all those cameras? The constant prodding from the staff to do something (or not to do something like eat croissants in the pool, haha). It felt as if I was there with the way things were described. I would LOVE to lounge in the pool or just have a fun time playing games.
😍 Loved the events/challenges we got. Like the disco/dance party!
😍 There were so many fab and interesting characters!
😍 Cas was such a fun and sweet character. At first though I was a bit hesitant about her and her motives to be there (just to get a promotion), but as soon as we saw her fall in love hard we saw her change and a lot even! Plus, I guess she, just like I would have had, needed time to adjust and get used to these people. And I loved seeing her open up as the weeks went by. See her get more comfy. See her try out new things. See her fall in love hard. Have fun! Laugh! Be grumpy when it was just too early (thankfully she had someone to bring her coffee, haha).
😍 Seriously Cas and Ada. PHEW! That was a lot of chemistry between those two and I was just shipping them so hard (just like a couple of other contestants which I loved). They had such a connection and I was just hoping that they would explore it. Get to know each other. Dare to say no to the conventional stuff (manxwoman) though I already loved that the show was open to it. That it was fine if the couples wanted to go that way. There were so many fun moments between them, and my two favourites were them sleeping outside + that reward they got in one of the later rounds.
😍 I loved that we got to see some social media/posts from the outside as well. I would have loved some more of those, but I am already happy we got them!
😍 While I didn’t like all the contestants (looking at you Brad) I liked most of them and I was also rooting for them to get their happy endings~
😍 The cover is just so much fun!
😍 The ending was the best and I love that Cas went that route and got people aboard with it as well to help out.
😕 I didn’t like the part where Cas was exposed, especially not with how everyone and then especially Ada reacted. I found it WAY too much. I get that Ada’s and everyone’s feelings were hurt but it was as if all those weeks together just didn’t exist. As if it was nothing. As if it all was gone. And I hated that. I had a hard time shipping Ada x Cas after that, even later when they made up. If someone would dump you that fast without even asking or talking? No thank you to that relationship.
All in all, this was a wonderful book and I enjoyed it greatly!
