How Winston Delivered Christmas by Alex T. Smith, Little mouse carrying a letter in a snowy landscapeDo you love advent calendars? Do you love books about Christmas? Then be sure to check this one out!

I have had this book in my sights for a while now but I never got to it, well, until last year that is! I finally could read it!

The book is split up in 24 and a half chapters and the way to read it is every day you read a chapter (it even has a handy date with each chapter) and so each day you get a piece of the story! I didn’t get this one until after the first week in December so I had to catch up, and well, after that my ADHD just tended to forget about the daily reading, haha. But I did manage several days of advent calendar reading and I just ADORE the idea. I am definitely planning on re-reading it in a few years and hopefully this time I can follow it day by day.

In this wonderful Christmas book we meet a tiny little mouse named Winston. On Christmas eve he discovers a letter that has fallen out of the postbox. This isn’t just any letter. This is a letter from a little boy to Santa. Yup. You can imagine that this is NOT GOOD. The letter needs to go to Santa ASAP. But then the next question is, how? Because Santa is still at the North Pole and a tiny mouse just won’t get there in time. But Winston is determined and I loved seeing his journey through the big city and meet new friends and allies who are willing to help him out. Winston learns of Santa being potentially closer than he thought and I just was rooting for him to get there on time. To get that letter safe and secure to Santa. So that the little boy would have a wonderful time. Of course, I was also hoping that Winston, this little tiny adorable brave mouse, would also get a merry Christmas. I mean, it is a BIG BIG journey for him and not at all the safest. I was totally invested and I loved seeing new parts of the city. Meet new characters.

And then there is the ending which had me in tears. Very happy tears. I won’t spoil anything, but be prepared for tears. It was just such a magical ending and I loved every bit of it.

Between each chapter/each advent calendar part we get some fun bonuses. Like DIY crafts to make cards or decorations to yummy recipes to try out to lists to prepare for Christmas, and there is more. I was excited each time to get to this part and see what we could get this time!

Of course, the book is FILLED to the brim with gorgeous Alex T. Smith artwork and I loved every bit, every detail. His art is so shiny and sparkly.

All in all, if you are looking for a wonderful Christmas book to try in a few months, check this one out!
