Stinetinglers 3 by R.L. Stine, zombie girl with cute pigtailsTen new stories that will creep you! That will give you some serious goosebumps!

First up a big thank you to my sweet hubby for giving me this one for Christmas!!

I was so excited that there was going to be another Stinetingler! I really enjoyed the first two and was hoping that this one would be just as much fun/would creep me out a lot, and I can tell you it did! I love the variety in spookiness. From hungry fish to horrible kids being horrible to dogs to a story set in the medieval times featuring wizards. There is something for everyone!

Full-Moon Sleepover Party: This was a spooky read with an ending that both was expected and shocking. About a girl who is more than one may think and who has suspicions regarding a popular group of girls at school. I really liked seeing the reasons why this girl thought the group was that and see her try to get closer to them. A fun first read!

The Bad Luck King: Oh man, this was so good. Though the kids were maybe a bit dumb, haha. It is about two kids (brother/sister) who go visit their uncle and are looking forward to it a lot, but then strange things happen. Their uncle isn’t around much. The housekeeper acts weird, and then there is something strange found in the garden. The ending was epic and I was on the edge of my seat, what would happen next! Those last sentences though, gasp!

The Stray Dog: This one was my least favourite, however, it wasn’t per se because of the story but because of the kids. Especially Riley who is a fucking psychopath and should definitely have his head checked. The bits I did like were reading about the person from another dimension travelling to ours and come into it as a dog. That part I loved. Reading about how he created that invention, and I was rooting for him when things got extremely nope.

Fish Food: Oh ho ho, karma is a bitch as they say. Well, these two kids are getting a nice portion of it. Though, OK, fair, one of them doesn’t entirely deserve it given he is just pulled along in the stuff, but he should have spoken up even if it brought consequences. This was a fun story and I was chuckling throughout. I always love it when bad people get a portion of karma and learn a bit on why they shouldn’t do bad things.

The Treehouse: Ohhhhh, I liked this one. Kids, if you see a shed or whatever else kind of tiny house looking forlorn in a field, don’t bring it home is my advice. And the kids in this story find that out when they are having fun in their treehouse and strange things happen, which end up with them gettin stuck in a time loop (I think that is the best way I can describe it). Things really get spooky and I was very curious how things would go. And then there is the Stine ending which I really liked.

The Magic is in the Hat: While I liked this one for most, I wasn’t a fan of Brady. He started off quite nicely and I liked seeing him try to magic, but he turned into quite the ass when he doesn’t get his way and doesn’t listen. I was curious how Stine would bring a nice portion of karma along, and well, that party was fun. Chaotic, over the top, and Oh my gosh! It was just so good. I still have some questions regarding Deidre and her magical hat, and wouldn’t mind another story with her as the MC.

Oops!: My least favourite story but I managed to get through it. It just didn’t feel like it fitted the book (especially since it takes place in the medieval times whereas the rest of the stories are more set in the now) until we got some revelations and when we got to the end. So I quite struggled through this one. I liked the end though.

I’m not Becka!: A great story about a girl who really wants to be a movie director and has great plans for a spooky movie of her own. Which involve going to a spooky graveyard when things are getting spooky. And then up in a trade that is definitely not the most fun trade (so kids, if someone at a graveyard asks you for a favour just say no and run like the wind). The ending was very Stine, but I really liked it even if I felt a bit sad as well. This one was one of my favs, I just love stories taking place at graveyards! Oh, and of course, this is the girl from the cover which made me even more excited! I love each of the covers of the collections and I am always curious what story that character is from.

The Dream Factory: Well, remind me to never go to a dream factory if there ever was one. Or well, maybe go to one but find a competent employer. In this very fun and at times a bit scary story we meet a boy who lives in a world with dream factories that can give you the dream of your life. Which is exactly what our MC wants given his nightmares. But I wonder if he truly wants what he is getting in the end. This one was definitely one of my favs, especially that ending! That was a shock. OK, I kinda anticipated it because of things, but still it made me gasp.

Eddie the Flash: The other least favourite story in the book. About superheroes, about a boy drawing his own, and what happens when strange things happen and the heroes/baddies you created come to life? I just didn’t like the MC’s sister and I didn’t entirely like the direction the story went in. At times it was pretty OK and I liked the strangeness, but at other times I was just not happy. And then there is the ending which I didn’t see coming and I don’t know how I feel about it.

I loved the artwork at the start of each story and I loved that R.L. Stine wrote an introduction for each story in which he tells us why he wrote the story/gives us a hint on what to expect!

All in all, I would highly recommend this book and the other two in the series, and I am looking forward to the next book!
