Review: What’s in the Walls?
I received this book from Edelweiss in exchange of an honest review.
My expectations: SPOOKY things. HORROR. Scary things in the walls that will haunt our friends.
What I got: Rats. So many Rats. And yes, rats can be scary and some of them definitely were, but I am not scared of rats that much, plus not to mention that I expected ghosts. Demons. Then rats are just NOT scary.
And yes, I guess I could have deduced that from the blurb. But I only read the first part, and besides, even if I could have deduced it, the author could have thrown a surprise in.
So in this book we follow Zack and his friends as they try to figure out what is in the walls and discover what the custodian is up to. We first get scratching in the walls, then they discover a surprise in the basement, and oh yes, a bigger hissing surprise in the toilets, and from that moment things descend more and more in rat-crazy pandemonium. But again it wasn’t scary for me. And I know, I am not a kid. But again points to first paragraph after the sentence about Edelweiss. I just had bigger hopes and expectations.
I did like the illustrations. They were really good and I liked them a lot.
All in all, well for kids who are afraid of rats this would be a good read, I guess. XD
