Let’s get started!

Review

I received this book from The Children’s Book Review + Alysson Foti Bourque in exchange of an honest review.

The newest book in the series and this time a very American event is happening, Science Fair! I always love reading about these special fairs and see what kids make, some really go above and beyond to make something that is super duper awesome. So I was definitely curious what Alycat was making and what the other kids at school had for this day. I loved seeing Alycat brim with enthusiasm and then also see the other kids from her class/school be enthusiastic about it + seeing Alycat’s shirt (though I am still not sure what Science Doesn’t Freak Meowt! means). I really wanted to step in a few times to check out all the projects myself!

But there is trouble at the horizon and Alycat finds out that there is a girl who is doing the same thing as her and also has a same shirt as her. I could definitely imagine that Alycat wasn’t happy with this. Especially if this girl has done it more often. I was curious to see how Alycat would handle this situation and I was pleased with how things went. I loved that they helped out each other and that Alycat saw that not everything was doom and gloom.

I am not sure how I feel about the ending. I am happy of course with those that won. But what Alycat did, well, it is sweet of Alycat, but on the other hand, why????? She only loaned you a small bit that you needed, she didn’t help you with the whole thing. Maybe I am just a weird person, but I would have NEVER done that. I would have thanked that person sure, but not the rest, haha.

The illustrations were adorable! I really like the style.

I loved that a recipe/how to create was adding for the Glitter Volcano! It sounds like such a fun project, maybe one day I will make one~

All in all though I really had fun reading this one and I like the message (it isn’t always bad if someone copies you or has the same things as you do, though of course there is a line), so I would recommend it!
