Review: Touch Within the Abyss

Review: Touch Within the Abyss

Touch Within the Abyss by Moyori Mori, two guys in a tight embraceI received this book from the publisher/Edelweiss in exchange of an honest review.

I just LOVE M/M romance and this one sounded so good with a hitman x a man who is blind. And it was! It made me cry a few times~

In this one we meet Chinatsu who is a hitman. Or well, he is supposed to be but he just cannot kill. Yup. That is not handy. And we see how that in the past lead to people dying because they had to protect him. We see that he is struggling. He doesn’t want to do this job. He just wants to be free. But his dad is quite a type and so far he hasn’t been able to get away. I was just rooting for Chinatsu to get free. To have his own life. To just be happy. He was such a sweet character, so warm, so kind.

And then there is Kasumi. A blind man who has met Chinatsu before (will talk about that in a bit). Kasumi was just a cutie. Someone you want to protect. Someone who needs love. Someone who also needs freedom. He lives in a room far away from his family. He barely goes out. He is just stuck in the darkness. I loved Kasumi from the start and I was rooting that he would find happiness. Because yes he is blind, but that doesn’t mind his world should be limited to his room or the occasional walk. He needs to be free. He needs to discover.

These two character met. Many years ago when everything spiralled down for Chinatsu Kasumi passed by the alley in which it all happened. He couldn’t see much back then so he only saw a shape of a boy. Chinatsu saw him. Both of them never forgot this encounter. They encounter each other again when Kasumi is robbed of his bag (who the fuck robs a blind person) and Chinatsu makes quick work of the criminal. Chinatsu helps Kasumi home (he was lost), and so begins the tale of two people, both lost and looking for happiness and freedom, finding each other. I just LOVED the chemistry between the two and I was just squeeing and swooning each time they were together. I loved their moments together and I loved how both found the best in each other. It was just the sweetest. I loved seeing them get closer. First just hugging, holding hands, trust, but later kisses and more.

Things got a tad exciting at one point, but I am glad how that went in the end. I do feel that this part even though it was a bit dramatic was needed in the story.

The ending was just the sweetest. I loved seeing both the guys find happiness. I cried so many tears seeing Kasumi smile, that was the best.

The art was absolutely gorgeous and I loved every bit of it. It was soft, tender, sweet, beautiful.

All in all, I would highly recommend this manga to all looking for a sweet M/M romance.
