What if you heard you had to get engaged to a terrible guy? Well, you randomly ask someone else instead. Yup! This was fun!

I am still going through Comics Plus (an American/English app that apparently my newest library offers) and so I was able to read this one. It sounded really fun, I love that title, OK, maybe not entirely because trapped by his love sounds a bit iffy. XD

In this one we meet a girl named Alice who is set to be engaged to a guy, however she DOESN’T want that, AT ALL. Why? Because Gray, that is his name, is a total asshole. He has bullied her constantly when she was younger, teased her all around, and is just mean (he doesn’t seem to understand that what he did traumatised the girl, I guess he thought this was a good way to show he liked her, boy, no, just no). So she is determined to change her fate and decides to go stand near the school gates and just propose the first guy who comes in. And low and behold, there is the high ranking Duke, Arthur Grindelbard. I just had such a giggle seeing her rush out and then get too nervous and just blurt it out without even glimpsing who she was proposing to. It was just so cute. And I could definitely understand her feelings. I would have done the same if I was her. Heck no I am marrying to some asshole.

But now here is the funny thing. Arthur is totally excited. We find out throughout the manga that he has had a crush on her for a while and had been meaning to maybe set some steps in going after her. I found it very adorable, especially since towards Alice he is acting like he has just met her the first time and that the is totally surprised by it. I hope that in the next volumes he tells her about how long he has been pining, plus I hope that he hasn’t been too much of a stalker. crosses fingers

But so far Arthur is a sweetheart and I love how protective he is and how he tries to make Alice the happiest girl ever. Giving her gifts. Making sure she is safe. When Gray pops up he is there to make sure that she is OK and that he clearly shows Gray that he is Alice’s fiancé now.

As I said, Gray is an asshole. Even later on he is just an ass and apparently doesn’t seem to care that Alice is engaged to another man. Eww. Nope.

Then there is Chloe who is Arthur’s cousin and meant to have married to him. You can imagine that she is not happy about that, and good lord, she was a bitch. I was so proud of Alice in the later parts with what she did. She took control, it was scary, but it was needed and I loved how Arthur reacted. He definitely wanted to step in a few times, but that wouldn’t fit with social norms and the likes I guess.

The art was at times quite wobbly, especially in regards to character designs. I did love the dresses and the fashion though.

I am so excited to read more about this couple and see them fall further in love. And again, to see Arthur be honest about how long he has liked Alice would be nice to see as well! I would recommend this one to all looking for a fun story with a MC who really grows and a lot of romance/cute moments.
