Thriller – This or That Book Tag
Hey all!
Welcome to a new Book Tag! Today I am doing the Thriller – This or That Book Tag!
I didn’t used to be that much into thrillers, but then during Covid I read them left and right, haha. And that is how my love for them started. I now always look forward to the newest Linda van Rijn books and I am looking forward to finding new thrillers. So this one was a perfect tag for me to dive into. I found this post early February on Adventures in Lit, it was a very interesting read, and I definitely wanted to answer the this or that questions. Today I finally had a spot on my blog left (I try to hold open some spots) and so here we are! I had a lot of fun doing this tag, most of the answers came instantly, I love when that happens~
Check out the original here and be sure to let me know if you do this tag because I am always curious to what everyone is answering~
Definitely a psychological thriller for me! Action-packed, well, it is often too much action (and sometimes even too much over the top for me) and that gets a tad boring/eye-rolling. But with psychological thrillers, well, you never know what will happen next. You will be on the edge of your seat, gasping in shock when a revelation happens or a character does something out of the left field. Psychological thrillers always have twists and turns. Sometimes predictable, but sometimes it will have you left gasping/reeling/wtf-ing at the end and I love it when a book does that to me.
2. Unreliable Narrator or Detective Protagonist?
Mm, if I really have to pick I would go for Detective Protagonist. While I do like unreliable protagonist/narrator and they are the ones I mostly see in the thrillers I read, I also get frustrated by them a tad too much. Then again, I sometimes have that with Detective protagonists/narrators as well because they are sometimes just so smarty-pants. Haha, I am making this one difficult.
3. Slow-Burn Suspense or Fast-Paced Plot Twists?
Depends for me fully on the thriller. Sometimes I don’t mind it when it slowly builds up to the conclusions, the twists, the wtf is going on-parts. Sometimes that it just the best course of action for the book as it will leave you all shocked when something does happen. But sometimes I would rather have something more face-paced. For instance thrillers with way too much dialogue. In that case, go to the action already. I have lost the plot already just kick-start it again and let’s go.
4. Domestic Thriller or Crime Thriller?
Domestic! I am just not a crime thriller girl. Instead Domestic is were its at for me. It just comes closer to home, it hits differently than a crime thriller as that is more a far away from your bed show, but these domestic thrillers are about family, about relationships, about boyfriends/husbands doing bad things, about the grey areas and is what someone is doing really wrong or not, and more. It just works better for me. It terrifies me more.
