Review: Flat Cat
A funny picture book about a cat who is flat! Very adorable!
In this adorable book we meet a purple cat who is as flat as a doormat, who can be unseen by pretending to be something in the surroundings (like a flag), he can be anywhere and everywhere. And that is just how he is. That is his perfect life. As the book describes this was how he was born. He didn’t get squashed, squeezed, smashed, or anything else. Flat cat was just flat cat. And he is having the time of his life. We see him enjoy his flatness to the fullest and I just loved how smoooooottth he was.
But what happens when he gets seen as a piece of laundry (that is a disadvantage of being flat and loving those underwear) and thrown in the dryer. Well, our sweet flat cat because a FLUFFY ball of FLUFF. I loved what happens next, it made me laugh so much, and I had such a big giggle at seeing the cat try his utmost everything to get flat again. Squeezing, squashing, smashing. Because this what he needs to do, to be flat again he has to try everything, but is that really what he wants? To be flat? To be smooth. To be unseen and just have his own party alone. He doesn’t want hugs or love… or does he? It was really cute to see him ponder what to do next and I have to say I absolutely LOVED what he picked at the end, that is a perfect solution, though I wonder if too much tumbling is that good for a cat, haha.
The illustrations were adorable! I really like the style and I love how the author can show the two sides to our flat cat in a fun way.
All in all, a really fun book that made me giggle, made me laugh, and I loved every bit!
