Review: Museum of Dogs

Museum of Dogs by Jessica Poundstone, statue of a dogI received this book from Edelweiss in exchange of an honest review.

So I love dogs looks at her cutie Coco who is currently a bit disobedient and I love museums. So this is a perfect book for me!

In this wonderful book the author takes us on a trip through art history with dogs! And we don’t get to see just one kind of art history, oh no, we go from porcelain bits to gorgeous art works to tiny little snack boxes to necklaces and jewellery to drink cups and bags and so much more. Plus, we travel the whole world. From my country (YAS) to Egypt to Japan to Greece. I just ADORED each bit we got. It was as if I was on a visit to a dog museum (does this exist, because otherwise we need to make one FAST) and got a full tour on the whole place with a wonderful tour guide!

Each piece is accompanied by a very fun bit of text about the item along with some titbits on the age/what it is for + a dash of humour is added as well (which is for me the best bit, I don’t mind some dryness in history, but when someone adds humour it just becomes much better and my mind also seems to remember it better).

I was so excited to even see a King Charles Cavalier Spaniel (which is Coco’s breed). It wasn’t her colours (she is black and tan), but it is close and I will take it.

I had such oodles of fun reading and seeing all the art and I definitely want to visit a museum now and see if I can find some fun dog items/pieces of art! I would highly recommend this book to everyone either lovers of art history or those of dogs (or like me, both).
