Review: Rex Dinosaur in Disguise: Museum Mystery
Rex is back and there is a new friend + a lot of fun time at a museum!
This time we are visiting a museum and Rex gets a new job, he is a security guard because strange things have been happening. I knew immediately what was going on and who was moving things around, but I was curious how long it would take our crew to figure things out. Plus, I was even more excited about seeing them patrol at night and get a first-hand experience with whoever is up at night. I also loved roaming the museum itself and wish I could be part of a sleepover in a museum. Imagine being able to just sleep between dinosaur bones? That is a dream right there! I also loved that along with Rex we see Sandra, Anish, and Big Foot. They are also eager to figure out the mystery.
I laughed at some of the things that Rex said. He is getting quite used to this human world but there are still things that elude him or that make no sense to him. Or he messes up sentences.
While it did get annoying a tad I could understand that Rex was a bit nervous about the bones of his fellow dinosaurs. Someone should explain him that these bones were added when the dinosaurs were dead. Not taken while they were still alive. XD
I already loved the fact our MC is a dinosaur and that we got cryptids as well, but now I am even more loving this series given that we got a mummy in this one! Hello to Phut who was having a pretty OK time in the afterlife and now is suddenly stuck in a museum. Though he is making the best of it. He made a friend (which made me laugh), he takes care of his bandages (though someone should give him the right ones and not let him toilet paper himself), and he makes some good food. Phut was a really fun character and I could understand that he just wanted to go back to the afterlife. He had dreams and plans. I was rooting for our group to get him to afterlife again. And I laughed quite a lot at all that happened to get that done, because it isn’t easy and Phut has some “small” wishes.
Oh, and it was great to see Linda in full glory again. I love that she is helping out, even if it goes by her way.
It is just a shame that everything is perfect and I was already giving out 5 stars, and then Maddie and her friends and even worse, Maddie’s dad came along. Bum Crac really ruins it for me. He should just calm the f down and take a chill pill. I am just getting tired of seeing him in the story, shouting bad things, being an ass, and not caring about anything else but getting Rex and his friends arrested or taken away. Geez. Have they ever done something? Nope.
The illustrations are fantastic again, I love how NO ONE sees that Rex is a dinosaur, even with the obvious big teeth and tail, and all that. Well, OK, except one person in this book, but that person is an expert it would be strange if they didn’t notice.
All in all, I hope that in the next one there is less of Maddie’s dad and friends. I hope for way more fun chaos, new friends, and more over the top adventures~
