Review: The Biggest Dog in the Book

Review: The Biggest Dog in the Book

The Biggest Dog in the Book by Ben Lerwill, Mark Chambers, yellow cover with a couple of dogs on itI received this book from Netgalley/publisher in exchange of an honest review.

In this adorable book we meet a whole slew of cute and fun dogs! Because of this book who is the biggest dog? I came across this book on BlueSky and had to request it immediately when I spotted it up on Netgalley. Thank you to the publisher!

Everyone who knows me knows that I am not really into repetition that much. I don’t mind it in little doses but some books just go overdose with it. And as soon as the book started I was worried that maybe I wouldn’t like it so much, but in the end I can tell you that it wasn’t that bad. Because what helped for me was that there was much more to just figuring out who the biggest dog is and seeing us go from small dog to bigger and bigger. For instance each time we level up (as I would call it) we get a different breed of dog. We start with Agnes who is a Chihuahua then we go to Magnus who is a dachshund and as each page went on I was curious about which breed we would get. And of course, hoping that maybe King Charles Cavaliers would be part (sadly no, but we did get a different and bigger spaniel type so I will take it).

Plus, we also see that the dogs know each other, each time the group grows. And we see them go to the park. So there is a whole story and a lot more elements than just the Biggest Dog. So in the end I was just curious who would get added to the crew of dogs. What kind of cutie would we see next? What is their name?

OH, and there is also plenty to see on each of the pages. Including finding a plushie that belongs to the one of the dogs and a friendly pigeon that pops up as the dogs go by.

I loved seeing who was the biggest and I had a giggle when we got to Shelby. I thought this is it, but then something happens I was just giggling. Nicely done, author and illustrator!

The illustrations by Mark Chambers were, as I expected, perfect. I loved the style, the colours, the details, everything. It was just too fun!

All in all, if you are looking for a hilarious boko and want to learn more about dogs then this one is for you! Read it~
