Review: Timmy the Tiny Farmer Boy
I received this book from the author in exchange of an honest review.
I just had to say YES when I got the request from the author if I wanted to read her book. It just looked and sounded adorable~
In this adorable picture book we meet a boy named Timmy. He is a farmer. A very tiny farmer. And we get to come along with him on a day on the farm! Waking up with the rooster, making sure the animals have food, finding his own food, and much more. It was so much fun to see Timmy and his animals have the best of days together. Because Timmy still has a long way to go. He makes some mistakes, but instead of being down about it he just laughs along with his animals or makes a fun remark about the mishap and continues. I really loved that positivity and it made me smile! I certainly wanted to be part of Timmy’s day and help him out.
The book is all in rhyme. I liked it though some parts didn’t work for me entire. Like when he slips from the haystack he says: “What a silly spa!” Maybe because I am Dutch and while I am pretty good at English I still sometimes miss bits, but for me a spa is a wellness center. Or swish going for splashy-ish. Still, I always appreciate a book in rhyme because it makes it more fun to read. I generally end up making it a song, haha.
The art is simple, but very cute. Especially those chickens, I just wanted to take them home.
Oh, I was a bit confused by the last image. I was expecting Timmy, but instead we got a random different child. I think for me it would have worked better if it was Timmy and if we wished him happy dreams and told him he had done a great job.
All in all, this book will definitely be liked by kids, who doesn’t love visiting a farm, meeting animals? So I would recommend it to all!
