Review: Happy Endings
I received this book from edelweiss in exchange for a honest review.
I really love Lucie Bryon’s art and work so I was excited to see this one up on Edelweiss in December, of course I had to get it! I knew I would love it.
In this one get three stories! In the first story an art student is drawing a very handsome guy who is apparently also dating her/or having an interest in her. This was a very fun start to this collection of short stories and I really loved the art. Plus, these two had chemistry. The art student was a bit awkward, but also cute and I love that she had guts. She asked him to pose, she sets the rules, and I also love that ending. swoon
The next one is about two time travel agents here to arrest people (and animals) who have committed illegal time leaps/distorted the time lines. But what happens when they get stuck in the current time line they are in? What will they do when they get a chance to take over a barbershop? Will they want to go back (was the future any good)? I really enjoyed this story and I loved seeing them take a chance and also see them grow, figure things out, see their friendship grow, get better at being a barber (because again, they have ZERO experience). I could understand that Boots wants to go back, but I love that Toots was definitely eager to stay and I loved seeing his little log and see him hope that Boots will like it here as well. Plus, we also get a dose of romance, oh no, not between Toots and Boots, those two are best of friends. There is some sweet romance between Boots and the flower woman next door. It was so sweet! And I really loved how the story flowed and seeing the characters get happier. The ending, OMG, I had not expected that one, but I liked it!
And then lastly we got a boy working at a graveyard and finding love in a summer. It was such a sweet story and I was totally agreeing with the boy because that guy really cried in anime tears and seemed like such a ghost. I was still shipping and rooting though and hoping that the guy was actually a guy! This story was just the sweetest and made me smile so much, I won’t tell you much more, unlike the previous story this one you have to really experience yourself. I loved the ending to it!
The epilogues, I just adore how that one was done. Starting with Toots and Boots getting a postcard to seeing a flyer being folded like an airplane and travel to each of the other stories and letting us see how things are going. CUTEEE! LOVEE!
Plus, I love the addition of the sketchbook!
All in all, if you want some very cute, adorable, sweet, tender, gorgeously drawn short stories featuring love be sure to check this one out!
