I received this book from Edelweiss in exchange of an honest review.

I had my eyes on this book for a bit so I was excited to be able to read it early, however, I am probably not going to be reading more of the series if Kay is really the MC. I will talk about that in a bit. First let’s tell you all about the good stuff.

😍 The Cover is just so much fun, I love how it is all mysterious and fun on the surface, but then on the bottom you can see dark fish lurking with glowing eyes.
😍 I did like that Kay was trying to help out someone who everyone seemed to forget.
😍 The art was amazing, I really like the style.
😍 I loved the side characters, they were all such fun friends and I would love to be part of this group and discover the surrounding areas/nature with them.
😍 There are many mysterious beasts/creatures tiny and bigger and it was fun figuring out if they were good or evil. Some seemed more mischievous for instance those flying fishies.
😍 I loved the small town setting! I would love to explore more of the town.
😍 I loved seeing the wonderful nature and surroundings and I wish I could pop into the book many times to be part of it.
😍 Kayaking! I haven’t done a lot of it, OK, I did it once or twice, haha, but this book definitely makes me want to do more of it.
😍 This is the 6th book but it never felt like I was missing out on anything.

😕 Kay. Kay was a naïve little piece of meh. She started off pretty fun, but when she endangered her friends, stole that map, drew her own little plan without one care about her friends, then I just wanted to yeet her into the waters that they were kayaking on. She was being a sneaky little bitch.
😕 Oh, and the whole mystery with DJ Azul was SUCH a disappointment. I had expected something epic, but instead.. it was lame.

So yeah, while there was a lot of good, Kay was just not for me. Maybe she is better in the other books, but frankly, eh.
