Review: Brrr!: Where did the dinosaurs really go?
In this delightful and fun picture book we discover why there are no dinosaurs or woolly mammoths anymore! It isn’t a meteorite!
Back in July (yes, my blog is quite full, it doesn’t help that I took August off for most) I got this book and Oi Dinosaurs. I first read Oi Dinosaurs and wasn’t a fan, so I was a bit hesitant when I read this one the next day. But I shouldn’t have worried, because this was a hoot!
In this one the dinosaurs are still around, and not just them, but also mammoths and sabre-toothed tigers. The dinosaurs have been fine up until now, but there is an ice age coming (brrrrr) and all the dinosaurs want is warmth. Lots of tropical warmth. So much of that. And as the time continues they are not the only ones. The cold even bothers the woolly mammoths (yes, it is that cold). I loved seeing them try to figure out a plan and that that plan turned out to be knitting? That was just fabulous. I was in stitches when they tried it all and came to the conclusion that T-rexes would be better at it, you know what with their little arms in the perfect position. But we all know a T-rex, so I was curious if they would convince them. I was delighted at what happened next and I wish I could have been there.
The ending made me laugh! Not just seeing them go for that plan, but also that last page! Well, that explains a lot. Haha.
The illustrations were fab! As I had expected from Nick East~ I love the designs of the dinosaurs and the mammoths/sabre-tooth tigers, loved their expressions when things got colder (ice everywhere) and the knitting projects? I want one now as well!
All in all, this was a hoot and I love the new spin on what happened with the dinosaurs? I would recommend this one to all!
