Review: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles x Naruto
I received this book from the publisher/Netgalley in exchange of an honest review.
I loved the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles when I was younger (and still have a soft spot for them) and I really enjoyed the first part of Naruto (before the fillers took over and things just got too much), so I was already pretty hyped when I learned about the crossover on Twitter/BlueSky and was even more hyped when I spotted it on Netgalley and got approved to read it!
In this one Team 7 (Naruto and the gang) and TMNT (our sweet kick-ass turtles) meet up when April is researching the goo and figures the best way would be to find someone who knows a lot about it, like a medical jutsu expert (see where that is going) and thus at the ninja village. From there on it is lots of action and battles. Some fun battles with the teams (I loved seeing Sakura kick some serious ass there and gain the respect of Raphael), but also a lot of backstory which I appreciated. Sure, most people who read this crossover are excited about both or either of the universes, but just in case you don’t know about x or y or are a total newbie, you get some information. About Naruto’s fox (who makes some appearances), about the turtles and their master.
The main story is about + the main antagonists are the Foot Clan and the ooze (the one that changed the turtles/the master to what they are now) and see what the plans are that Saki concocted and see him become the supervillain we know from the series.
I loved seeing the teams team up and how well it fitted to see our turtles match with the ninjas (that one move from Naruto and Michelangelo, the U-Zu-Mikey-Angelo-Barrage).
And the art, oh the art, that one was just freaking fabulous and fantastic. I loved every moment of it and I loved how everyone was draw and how well the action scenes were done. Plus, I appreciate extra art in between the chapters, plus how at the end we are getting a ton of art by various artists.
All in all, I flew through this one and I am sure that fans of the shows will have a lot of fun with this one and it will also be a fun introduction to newbies!
