Review: Little Joe and the Big Snow
I received this book from the author in exchange of an honest review.
After enjoying the first two books in the series (Little Joe and the Big Rain and Little Joe and the Big City) I just had to say yes to reading this new book of the author as well!
While it is still a bit early for snow here, currently it is just pouring rain, I am looking forward to winter and hoping that this year we get some good snow! So I was delighted to get in the mood for that season with this book!
In this adorable book Little Joe and his family are having a great wintery season. Drinking hot cocoa, but also tapping maple syrup and making syrup out of it. I loved following the family along as they made pancakes, maple syrup, and went sledding. It was so warm and fluffy and perfect and I had oodles of fun. I wanted to step in a few times during the story to be part of this family and also experience real maple syrup (see if it is the same as the stuff they sell here under that name).
Of course it wouldn’t be a Little Joe book without Joe sneaking away and going on his own adventures! I was already wondering when he would wander off and just have a fun time on his own before heading back to his family. I love this little adventurous dog and I love that he had so much fun in the snow with two new friends. We don’t get a whole lot of snow here but I would love to go sledding with Coco or having her slide down on her own from hills (I would have to see where one is though, haha). I know Coco loves snow. When she was still little snow fell and I went outside, she loved me lobbing snowballs towards her, she just munched them to bits. She also loved running around in the snow. It was supercute!
I loved meeting Jasper and Hazel! They are the little cubs from the mother bear we met in the first book! I was just so happy to know that Roxy is doing well and that she has two adorable little ones now. It made me laugh though that while their mom is probably in sleeping mode these two are just scampering around and having a jolly old time with the snow and discovering the world.
Things I still enjoyed in this one just like the previous one, the fact it still has that picture book feel but has much more text so is more for earlier readers or an even longer bedtime reading session. The art is also still adorable and fun and I just want to give Little Joe a scratch and a hug.
All in all, a warm hug of a book and one I would recommend to all! Read this one and the others~
