End of The Year Book Tag! 2025 Edition!

Afternoon!!

Girl with a staff and a book moving left and right

Welcome to a new book tag, it is that time of the year again, say hello to the End of The Year Book Tag! 2025 Edition!

Which I almost didn’t do. As I hadn’t expected it was that time of the year again. Haha. I saw a few bloggers post this one and I was like, wait, it isn’t time yet? checks blog Oh, oh, it is time. So that meant I had to move things around to make room for this super fun tag! Because of course I want to do it!

This year was much calmer than last year (last year I found out my dad had Alzheimer and was in a care home + a lot more), still a bit stressful as of course my dad’s health goes from steady to not so steady + my family is still my family… But at least not the OMG will he die now/can my family just calm the heck down. I found a rhythm that works for my body/health visiting my dad. Twice a month I try to come by and have a fun time (which varies from a few minutes if he is not in the mood/sleepy to an hour+ if he is OK). He had a bit of a meh moment a few months ago with lots of aggression but he is much calmer now and he is very happy to see me.
Coco has had no bad things happening this year so that is nice. Her hip is still not always 100% fine, but that is something she will have to live with her whole life. Coco and I went on several fun trips from the nearby garden centre to shopping to visiting my dad. I am putting that stuff on hold though as lately she has been yipping and yapping and borking when we go out and I can tell you after 10 minutes of that you get crazy. Hopefully soon we can go on trips again and it will be fun again. Other than that she loves her hugs and snacks and she is one happy bundle of energy.
My garden got fixed front and back and it looks so GOOD now. I did some gardening after it was done and now my garden is mostly in winter mode. I just need to clean up a few things, I cannot wait to see my garden come back in early spring/spring, back then the garden was still pure chaos as it wasn’t done until summer, so I am curious to see how my new garden looks in spring.
Baking… well, I wanted to. But my head is just not in it. I did acquire some new baking books and I hope to at least do some Sinterklaas baking soon as my hubby really wants some Speculaas and pepernoten made by me.
Libraries were all fantastic! I got a new big library (which is now sadly closed for two months as they are moving to another building as the main building has to be renovated) and I had a lot of fun getting new book babies from that place. They really have an amazing collection.
And other than all of the mentioned, it was a good year. It flew by though, haha. I am still not ready for Christmas. I still expect it to be May or something.

As for my blog! Well, there were very good days and some lesser days. I am checking my stats less and less, but at times one just cannot resist. Or I need to know because I need to update Netgalley/Edelweiss with my stats. But when I check I do see that my blog is doing pretty OK. Though I still will never get why the stats fluctuate so much. On other non-stat news. I have been updating my Featured Images + making updates to my old GIFs by adding text to them. I am also going through my posts + make sure they all have Featured Images + correct tags. It is a lot of work but it is fun as well!
I want to thank everyone who has been reading + liking + sharing my posts + commenting on them! I really appreciate it! Thank you so much!

Last year’s releases I hoped to read: What the Woods Took (still need to buy it), De krankzinnige kerst van Lottie (loved this one it was so much fun), Kolos (still cannot find it in any store or library it seems it just isn’t popular enough), The Mystery of Locked Rooms (oh this was good though at times the characters were annoying), The draak met de knallende kont (read in English and I laughed myself silly). So that is all good!

1. Are there any books you started this year you need to finish?

Quoting my answer from last year and that year before that and the year before that and the year before that: “Nope. I generally finish books quite soon after I started them. Unless I DNF-ed but then I am also not getting back to them. πŸ˜›”

2. Do you have an autumnal book to transition to the end of the year?

Nah, as said each year, I am a moodreader to the core and I don’t want to stick myself to books in seasons. Only exception is Halloween in which I try to read as many horror/spooky/ghostly book as I can (I even save up for them). See my TBR for this year to see what I wanted to read + what I read. Of course, I also read non-spooky books when my moodreader self wanted that. And I do have one or two Christmas books from last year (see there is the moodreader) that I may want to read during Christmas this year.

3. Is there a new release you’re still waiting for?

Haha, yes. First up two books from December that I want to read and then two from October and November. Those from October/November are also on my Christmas wishlist so I won’t be getting those ASAP, but those books from December I hope to get when they release.

Wow in the World Dinosaurs Are Wow! by Mindy Thomas, Guy Raz, Mike Centento, purple cover with the authors running away from a volcano and dinosaursAngelica and the Bear Prince by Trung Le Nguyen, blue cover with a boy and girl holding hands with a mascot in the backMaid to Skate by Suzushiro featuring a maid holding groceries and doing some cool tricks on a skateboardAin't Nobody's Fool by Martha Ackmann featuring a black/gray photograph of Dolly Parton looking fabulous

4. What are three books you want to read before the end of the year?

Christmas Party Demon by Wendy Dalrymple, group of terrified teens and a mirror showing a very terrifying faceHow Bad Things Can Get by Darcy Coates, mysterious/dark cover with an island in the middleOnyx Storm by Rebecca Yarros, Black/White cover with a symbol in the middle and smoke at the bottom

One on the left (Party Demon) is an ARC that I need to read before December 3rd. I am really excited about that one as I really loved the first book and I am exciting to dive into Christmas horror. Then the second book is the newest Darcy Coates and for some reason I just cannot seem to get myself to pick it from my TBR and read it. So it is high time to just grab it and start. Maybe if I just do that I will be able to read it. And then lastly a book I pre-ordered the special edition of, Onyx Storm. This one is a bit like the Darcy Coates book. Though with this one I actually tried a bit. I think for most I am just worried I will dislike the book or that I get bored of it. And I just love the series so I will be sad if that happens.

5. Is there a book that you think could still shock you and become your FAVORITE?

As last year, there is still a whole month and a week to go before the end of the year. There is still enough time to shock me! Until the fireworks go off at midnight on New Year I am eagerly letting myself be surprised. I still got several books left to read + some new releases I hope to read + of course Mangaplus and ComicsPlus are there are as well! I am sure there is a favourite somewhere waiting for me to discover them.

6. Have you already made reading plans for 2025?

As with each year. No. I don’t really do reading plans. I just want to read whatever sounds fun/whatever comes on my path.

Thank you all for reading my post! I won’t be tagging anyone but if you do this tag, tag me or let me know so I can read your answers! I always love seeing other people’s reading plans + books they hope to read (always on the hunt for more books to read, haha).Β
It was a lot of fun doing this tag again, even though I almost forgot it, oops. Wish me luck on the books I hope to read + my new releases I would love to get. And I am hoping for a good 2026, hopefully even quieter and that I can start baking again in earnest. Plus, that I feel more alive. At times I just want to crawl up in my bed and never come out, so yeah, I would like less of that and more enthusiasm again.

  1. Hey there,

I hardly let books wait on my current reading list. I either finish or DNF them. In some special cases, when I realize it’s just not the right time for a specific topic, I put the book back on my TBR shelf.

Out of all the books you mentioned I only read Onyx Storm earlier this year. I do hope you’ll enjoy it.
