A spoopy fun book about a girl, a ghost, and a game of Tic Tac Toe (at least eventually, haha).

This was one of the book I really wanted to read in 2025 and I was so excited when I popped by Library #4 and spotted it on the English book section shelves. Of course I had to bring it with me.

In this cute book we meet a girl named Aggie who is looking for a home and finds one. A gorgeous home. Perfect for a person to live in. Perfect rooms. Perfect bed. However. She is not alone in the house. There is a little ghost as well. And I loved seeing all that the ghost did. From making a mess, to taking her socks (leaving her with single ones), to making noise, and more. Aggie, as you may expect, is not happy. She was so excited about the house but the ghost is ruining it. To be fair Aggie, the ghost was there first, haha. But she tries to make things work and makes some rules. Simple rules. But well, the ghost is not having it (to be fair, again, it is his house). We see how things escalate and I was curious if Aggie and the ghost would ever be able to make it up. Make things work. Because at this point I would recommend Aggie to just find a new home.

And that is where the game of Tic Tac Toe comes in play. Apparently something ghosts normally cannot lose. But as we see Aggie and the ghost are equally matched and I had a laugh how they just kept going. Neither of them giving up.

The ending? How the game ended? If they ever became friends? Or at least something like that? I won’t spoil it, but I am kinda happy with it, it was quite sweet. The last sentence made me laugh though. That was a nice extra I hadn’t expected.

The illustrations were just the cutest and I loved the style. Loved the little ghost and seeing him go from little to something much more fitting for the horror I am reading (currently it is Spooktober).

All in all, a lovely picture book about a girl, a ghost, a house, and more. I had fun! I would recommend it!
