Review: Cheerful Amnesia, Vol.1

Cheerful Amnesia Vol. 1 by Tamamushi Oku, girl holding her hands to her face and looking very happy while another girl is behind herWhat if your girlfriend gets amnesia and forgets your whole relationship? Well, a lot of cute moments!

I came across this one in Library #1 back in late October, I am just LOVING how they are adding more manga and not just the popular shounen or shoujo series, but also series like this one!

Meet Arisa a girl who had an accident (or at least that is what we are told, I hope we get some more deets on that) and lost all her memories of 3 years. Which means she has no recollection of ever dating Mari. You can imagine Mari is worried. Well, right of the bat we see that Arisa is totally squealing as soon as she lays eyes on Mari who is sitting next to her. This scene just made me laugh. Poor Mari, all worried about her girlfriend + if they will still have a relationship and then there is Arisa just fawning over her like a fangirl. So yeah, throughout the manga we see that Arisa is trying to remember and in the meantime squealing, swooning, fangirling, melting, and more over her girlfriend and the fact that they are DATIIIINNNNGGG. It made me laugh so many times because Arisa was just the cutest and I love all her reactions to little and bigger things in the relationship. Like that single bed in the room. Or waking up next to Mari. Or the food they make.

There are some issues though, since she lost so many years a lot of things are missing, she doesn’t know where she lives with Mari (which leads to a hilarious scene when Arisa tries to recreate a memory (which she was told about) and ends up with a very drunk Mari in a cab…. and just promptly decides that a love hotel is where it is at), Arisa is apparently the one taking control over the sexy situations (especially later on when she had learned all the hot things) and now Mari has to help her remember which lead to some adorable scenes with bottom Mari trying to explain to top Arisa how to do things. Or that one scene in which Arisa has no clue which clothes are hers and then especially the bras… And there are also some more serious moments as Mari is still worried about the situation + about Arisa and her health. I mean Arisa is having a great time as we can see, but will it last? While I love the mostly happy tones I am also happy that we get some other moments as well.

Plus, I love seeing Arisa gain back her memories thanks to her friend (who she told all about various cough things) and Mari. And thanks to that we got a glimpse in how Mari and Arisa started dating (it was very cute and maybe a tad stalkery).

The art was really the cutest! I love the style and how well it fitted with the story/characters.

All in all, this is one series I want to read further, this was just so much fun and super cute! I also shared bits with my hubby as some parts were just so hilarious and adorable. I would recommend it to everyone!
