Review: Kill Creatures
What if someone you killed returned to get revenge? What will you do?
🥰 First up lets start with the cover, which is utterly stunning and amazing and BOY I love it. Especially since the face continues on the back!
🥰 At first the MC was quite likeable (OK, except for the murder part, haha), you wonder what made her kill her friends given how she talks about them with such love, but as the story continued and things escalated or we learned more new things I just started liking her less and less and starting doubting her more and more. The author did a fantastic job on writing this character, despite her becoming more and more unlikeable I was still invested and still wanted to know all about her motives and how she would handle these new events.
🥰 The girl who came back? Didn’t like her that much, but just as our MC I didn’t mind it that much. She was written in a way that made me interested in her and I was curious to see what happened to her and how she survived (magic or just someone finding her).
🥰 I loved learning more about the girls. Throughout the story we go back to the summer of a year ago and see the bonds between the girls, see how Nan fell in love with Edie, see her relationship with the girls and how it wasn’t always the best, we learn all about these girls. The townies and the girl who comes back each summer. We read about what happened before the events which later turns out to be very important/big piece.
🥰 Seeing how the MC cooked up a whole plan and why. At first we only get the story she has told everyone but as the story continues and the back then comes to the part of all the bad things we learn more and I loved it so much.
🥰 So many secrets! Each time you think you know it and then boom, more secrets. More twists. More turns. Brilliant! Never a dull moment in this one.
🥰 I loved reading about the town, the tourists, how the town feels about the tourists, I loved reading about the canyons and the Devil’s Eye. It made me want to visit the place. Though I will stay out of the water at that one place, yup.
🥰 That the book started exactly a year after the events. Not start at the murders, but start with a vigil. And then of course the girl who was missing coming into view (which btw was such a good scene).
🥰 The last part and how it all came together! How every secret was laid bare. See Nan react. See everything escalate. Perfect!
🥰 I am always happy with an epilogue! I am glad we got it from that person though I also wouldn’t have minded one from our MC.
😐 The only thing I didn’t like was that I thought that maybe it would go supernatural. I will tell my readers this, it doesn’t. There is a reason for everything happening. And while it was exciting, I just wanted more zombie/risen dead over that.
All in all, Rory Powers has done it again! This was an exciting YA thriller with plenty of twists and turns~

I absolutely loved how this story wasn’t like all the others “we all went.,, and only I came back but don’t remember”, it was brilliant! Sure wasn’t seeing that one coming.
