Review: Villains Are Destined to Die Vol. 1

Villains Are Destined to Die Vol. 1 by SUOL, woman with pinkish hair and gorgeous dress looking at the reader in a certain wayWhat if you isekaied/ended up in the body of the supposed villainess? This was a good first volume!

Again, I am big big villainess lover so when I spotted this book I was curious. Why was Penelope set to be a villain? Was she really that bad? And how would our MC go through things.

My heart broke for our MC. She just escaped her shitty real life with a dad who didn’t care and brothers who were harmful and kids at school beating her up/being horrible. And then just on the first day of her new life she wakes up in Penelope’s body and a bigger hell appears. Because sure real life wasn’t all that good, at least there was no death involved. In this new place she has to constantly watch what she does, watch how she speaks, watch everything. Even the slightest thing may mean death. I just wanted to step inside the story to give her a hug. Because holy crap.

At least she has some knowledge of the game, both with the original and the DLC (as I would call it). That helps her try to figure out how to not die and how to escape this hell hole. She knows what not to say, what led to death and what options may mean the story continuing without that. Making lists of which love interest is the best shot and who to avoid.

I loved when she got the option of free speech and not being stuck to horrible options that the game gives her in the multiple choice.

It was also interesting to see Penelope’s past. About how she was adopted and why. About why she turned villainess. I guess with everything Penelope was just forced into the role. She just didn’t have a choice, and my heart broke. I mean, imagine being 12, ripped off the streets to live with a family who just wanted a substitute daughter and then being hated by everyone. Your family. The maids. The butler. Everyone.

I loved seeing our MC try to figure things out and also speak up. From the maid who abused her to the butler who had no care about decency and decorum to her brothers. Making her own options (of course while still minding how the game is). Using her rank when needed.

The art was very pretty, I mean just look at the cover, so pretty!

All in all, I am 100% invested in this story and I want to keep on reading. Well, OK, by the time this review appears I hope to have read the rest of the series as I am writing this in November and ComicsPlus has up to volume 7 and will probably have volume 8 (the last one) soon. I would highly recommend this series to all.
