An exciting manga full of gore, ghosts, and a good story!

I came across this manga in my hunt for Spooktober books (yes, my blog is quite full, haha). I encountered this one, the cover was a bit weird, but I loved the blurb so I had to give it a shot, and I have to say??

I really enjoyed this one. It immediately starts with action when a group of teens gets brutally murdered and our MC transforms into a chick with a chainsaw. Sure, I was a tad confused because what the heck just happened? But then we get introductions and more. We learn that the girl’s name is Asahi and that she is a college student. And that she has a ghost with her. She named it Grudge because he has a grudge and looks very creepy. We also learn that she lost a whole week not that long ago and that when she woke up there was Grudge. Of course, I was interested. I needed to know more! And as the story continues over the three volumes we get more and more bits of information with the last chapter containing all the very important information, the last bits of the puzzle. I loved how we slowly got more and more information while also getting to see our two characters connect more (thankfully never romantically as some manga do), learn more about them (and maybe not feel the need to kick Grudge as much as I wanted to in the beginning), and see them kick monster/ghost butt.

Yup. Because while searching for information they go to haunted places, get in scary crap, and of course there is fighting. Asahi is pretty useless (sorry girl) but when she allows Grudge to take over they have immense power. Well, there are some caveats to the whole thing, but as the story continues Asahi also gets better. The battles, the monsters/ghosts it was all just so cool and awesome. At times a bit too gruesome for my dear stomach, haha. But that is just how he is the last few years.

Along the way we meet various characters. Like in the good category a girl named Suzu. Who is an exorcist with maybe not always the best way to do things, but I could see she wanted to help Asahi. Then there is a bad one and the main villain, The Doctor. I will call him that. You will meet him as the story continues. He is a real creep and you just want to NOPE the fuck away from him.

I love when we got those last puzzle pieces and everything connected. I was just going OMG! It was just perfect.

And apparently this is a prequel series for another one called Ender Geister. Given how things went I need to know more so I will definitely be checking it out.

The art was a bit strange at times, but as the story continued I started liking the art more.
