Review: Loki: A Bad God’s Guide to Causing Chaos

Loki A Bad God's Guide to Causing Chaos by Louie Stowell, yellow cover with tons of doodlesA new Loki. New characters, a spell, a mystery, and more!

🥰 Loved that in this one the plot is that people’s feelings are switched around. Which is most visible in Vinir. You know how people say love and hate are close? Well, with the changing of emotions Vinir is now DEEPLY in love with Loki. I actually found it adorable and sweet and wouldn’t mind if it became truth, I much prefer sappy Vinir of vindictive Vinir. It was also fun seeing everyone else change. From the Frost Giants (yup, they are there again) to the humans. As if a switch was just flipped.
🥰 I loved figuring out the mystery on how people got changed/flipped over and I loved the quests that followed with it.
🥰 You can see how much Loki has grown. In the first book he probably wouldn’t have minded that his earth parents acted weird, or even hated him, but in this book when Hyrrokkin was acting all hating on him you see how it breaks him. You see him just feel bad. You see him wonder if he ever is good enough. Even when the diary tries to tell him to look beyond it, he just cannot. I really wanted to step in those moments and give Loki a hug.
🥰 And in other ways you also see how he has changed. Yes, he is still a trickster, and yes, still at times a little prick, but I also love seeing him do chores, try to help his friends, figure out how to fix things, do other good things. Plus, his conscience is also around and growing stronger. I am definitely curious to see how much more Loki will develop and how he will be in the end of it all.
🥰 Loved meeting Loki’s daughter Hel. That was a fun surprise!
🥰 Plus, tons more mythology along with a new goddess appearing to be a parent.
🥰 I also loved the party and seeing what each class was making. I would love to help with that mural, it sounds like such a fun one!
🥰 And of course, the fun format of diary along with tons of illustrations that always bring a smile to my face.

🤔 I did think it was weird that Loki didn’t get any points when refusing Vinir when he presented that present. I mean, seriously, old Loki would have gone gimme gimme and this new one was like HECK NOPE. But then again, I have been questioning the point stuff for a while now.

All in all, an exciting new part in the series and I laughed, I cheered, I had fun with the mystery, and I love seeing the characters again. I cannot wait to see what is next! Oh, and which colour the next book will be!
