Review: Touring After the Apocalypse Vol.2 + Vol.3
It is time for Volumes 2 and 3 of this series! New travels! New memories! And more!
It took me a bit longer than I had expected. I read the first volume during Spooktober 2023 and thought I would just read the next the year after, well, it took me until Spooktober 2025 before I actually did. It was then that, during a peek at the new releases, I saw it appear on ComicsPlus. Of course, I immediately went to read them. Haha.
In this one as the quest for the voice on the radio continues we visit Akihabara (cute girls everywhere, and yes art of cute girls is definitely a hobby, haha / maid outfits (I was surprised they were still there) / a bunch of animals that probably escaped the zoo and are having a great time / we get to meet the voice of the radio (and I wasn’t surprised) which made for a fun segment that made me so happy even if it was also a tad sad. After that we continue on the road with storms (dang that was dangerous), and the second volume ended on a cliffhanger which makes me happy I could just read on. I have to say I was very sus about it all, it all felt too convenient what happened in the next volume. I mean, maybe it is all possible and it is just all on a timer, but it was just too convenient in this volume. Everything just clicked together like there was no problem at all. I did like seeing the journey towards the place they are supposed to go which was a gorgeous outing and I just wanted to step in at times and be part of it.
I loved the museum (it gave me serious Inspector Gadget vibes), plus I also like the motor shrine (want to visit) and the motor circuit/museum. I love that these girls are able to explore the world and have fun. Plus, can I be part of that stamp rally thing? I read about those so many times in manga/anime and I really want to do one!
I also love that the girls take time to do some cosplay. From the maid + more outfits in Akihabara to space outfits at the museum. So cute!
And we also learn some lessons along the way. How to prepare duck. How to clean motor cycles, how to camp, and more. It just gave it a little extra.
I was glad that the dreams lessened, those who read my review for Volume 1 know that I wasn’t a fan… however we are still getting dreams and still no explanation. Either tell us what is going or just stop with it. I want some explanation. Especially now with the whole race track thing and what happened there. It is just so not fitting for me. I am expecting a fun apocalypse romp and I am getting fantasy/magic? Or are they memories? What is it? This really makes me unsure if I want to continue. I mean, it is a good series, but the dreams ruin it for me.
Not to mention not getting any answers on how Youko is still alive, how Airi is still working, why everything seems to be made for them. Is it all a fantasy? A dream? I don’t know, and I just want answers. And so far we are not getting them. So I am thinking of just holding off reading until the whole series is out and just go to the last volume, haha. Or check reviews.
All in all, I still had fun reading these two volumes, I just had hoped for more answers by now.
