I got this book for BBNYA 2025 in exchange of an honest review/rating!

😍 Cam! While at times I did get a bit annoyed at him and his constant lamenting about everything, I did like him for most of the book and I loved his gift. That is one gift that he really has to train and figure out. You don’t want to do the wrong things after all! I loved how he became friends with Loman and how that seem to boost his confidence a bit more.
😍 I also loved reading about his aunt and his mother and their awesome skills!
😍 The cover is pretty cool, now that I read the book it makes it even more fun to see some details!
😍 Loved it when Loman entered the book and I had quite a few giggles at what kind of things he did. Most of them harmless like changing languages. Others a bit more bloody, like a paper shuriken. I loved figuring out who he was (though I think I was faster than our MC/friends) and then seeing how things would go. I won’t spoil anything, but I really enjoyed that Loman was that person. I loved how Loman became fast friends with Cam and I love seeing them both work together as the story continued.
😍 The two raven girls! They were a bit rude at times, but haha, if you are that kind of being I can understand that you are just done with humans at times.
😍 What happened at the end with the Libris Sapientia and what happened to the one who was allowed to write into it. That is such a cool magical skill!
😍 Also what happened with Alice at the end, it was a shock, but then things went better and I hope that Alice is able to get more help.

🫤 Not a fan of the bullying. At times I just wanted our MC to use his gift to do something, anything. Just some fun pranks or something. Nothing bloody. But just something silly.
🫤 While I did like Alice, I just didn’t get why she was so violent all the time? Breaking fingers? Getting in constant trouble. I mean, we learn that her home situation is shit, but that still didn’t make me go Aww that poor girl yeah, just kick people’s butt when they slightly annoy you. I think for me it would have helped if we saw Alice actually try to be better. For now I mostly just saw aggression.
🫤 The ending? I am sorry, the book just stops? I was wondering if something was wrong with my copy and I found myself flipping back and forth on my e-reader to see if something was glitching.
🫤 I also would have liked our MC to be a bit more patient instead of immediately assuming he didn’t get a gift. I get it, most of the people with a gift got it immediately, but there are plenty of skill, including yours, that need to be discovered.

All in all, I still had fun and I am glad I could read this book for BBNYA!
