Review: Crazy Food Truck, Vol.2
Almost 4 years later, but we are back with our crazy food truck and in this crazy world!
I totally had forgotten about this series, so imagine my delight when I found volume 2 for sale during my Wijnegem shopping trip. For only 2 euros! Yup. That one had to come with me! Since it had been 4 years (almost) I had to do a little recap by reading the previous volume’s last chapter to see what the heck happened as this volume just happily continues on and I was confused. But as soon as I read that chapter and continued in my new volume it was as if I had never left! It was so much fun!
In this one a lot of things happen. We have some crazy action scenes like the one we start the book with which made me giggle as it was just so over the top. But we also have tons of food scenes. Because it is still a food truck. Plus, Arisa never stops eating. For real. This girl eats so much. Thankfully, we do get some small information bits on why she is always eating so much and why she heals so insanely fast, I loved that this was mentioned, I can forgive Arisa just a bit more now for eating Gordon to poverty. 😂 I had fun following Gordon and Arisa as they searched for new places to explore and new foods to try. From crabs (the way Gordon killed them was brutal) to a weird pig to shiny snails and much more, it was so much fun and while I wouldn’t want to eat some of these things (or in case of crab don’t want to because I get sick) they did look very good and made my tummy rumble. Gordon really has a talent for making something extraordinary, I really hope that one day he is able to open up the food truck!
And next to food we follow not just Gordon and Arisa but also Kyle (the former subordinate of Gordon) and his new companion, Myna who is the sister of Arisa. This ragtag group is doing some recon on various places + keep an eye on Arisa/Gordon. I wasn’t sure at first about these parts, but quickly found out that I enjoyed them. Myna is a cute addition and Kyle is not the worst. I had fun seeing what they got up to. Plus, I love Vald’s attitude regarding things. That is A-Plus. I have read too many books like this with a world changed with organisations trying to bend everything to their will/destroying things.
Oh, and I liked that Arisa grew up just a bit more in this one. Taking care of Gordon. Making her own food. Love that!
The book ends in exciting moments when things really go south and boy I want that next volume ASAP. Hopefully by the time this review goes live (writing this Jan 15th) I will have been able to get it crosses fingers. I would highly recommend this action-packed and fun manga to all.
