Review: Marty Moose: The Great Stamp-ede

Review: Marty Moose: The Great Stamp-ede

Marty Moose The Great Stamp-ede by Claire Powell, blue cover with a mouse in mail outfit running around with an eggI received this book from the publisher on Netgalley in exchange of an honest review.

I was so hyper excited when I saw this one pop up on Netgalley, of course I had to request it and boy I am happy I have gotten approved! I really enjoyed the first book (4.5 stars, read my review here) and I was eager to read more Marty Moose books.

In this one a big big race which, in Marty Moose fashion, is full of chaos! It is a race only for birds and it doesn’t matter if you are a big bird like Gerry or a chicken like Betty. Don’t ask how that works, I mean you would think that a bird 4 times the size would easily win, but no. It is all chaos. All excitement. And I love how Marty was looking forward to it and then found out that he has to deliver a package, a very special EGGspress package. The trophy. Yup. Thanks to the announcer (who is some braggy guy named Hurricane Honk) who just had to do something else when the item was supposed to be delivered (boy, please). And Marty is a mailmouse, so he has to go for it. And make sure he gets there before the others. Yup. Add to that some villain character who really want that egg trophy and tons of feathers and hilarious announcers (who also keep things fair) and you got a race of your dreams, or as the title says The Great Stamp-ede! I was just giggling the whole time I was reading this one, there was just never a dull moment in this one. It is full of energy.

Oh, and I am so sorry but where the package was when Marty had to pick it up? I was in stitches. It reminds me of those tales going around about how mail people deliver mail. It seems even our little town here isn’t free from it.

I am still on the fence with Nibbles. I love her energy, I love her chaoticness. But at times she gets way too much. I just have a low tolerance for annoying/obnoxious characters. And I wasn’t sure about Nibbles in the previous book well I still am not sure if I want her out of the story or in the story. I wouldn’t have minded Nibbles if she acted a bit more normal, but all she does is do whatever she wants no matter what is going on at that specific moment. She abandoned Marty a few times, did some dumb crap, and in overall, meh. But I can also see that she is truthful about being a friend for Marty, and I like that.

The illustrations once again are amazing! I really love the style. The new critters were perfectly designed, I love the designs of the villains. Oh, and I love that we got the stats of the contestants at their introductions, perfect!

All in all, I had oodles of fun with this one, it made me laugh, it made me giggle, it made me cheer for Marty. It was terrific! I would highly recommend it to all.

Star rating, 4.5 stars
