New Releases I Hope to Read in May 2026
Hi all!

A warm welcome to a new New Releases I Hope To Read post! It is time for May!
How was April? Well, um, it was fast. I still cannot believe (I am writing this the 20th of April) that it is almost over. Not a whole lot of exciting things happened this month, though in 3 days there is King’s Day and I hope to find something at the flea market + eat poffertjes + see the horse races.
I did have a lot of fun gardening. Not just weeding, but also adding plants, sowing in seeds for veggies (radishes and carrots) + flowers. And my garden is really coming to life and I love it. Last year I couldn’t enjoy it that much as the garden was under construction with lots of new plants added and plants moved. And now I can finally see the work really come to life both front and back garden! I cannot wait until it is just a smidge warmer so I can sit outside. Coco has been doing a lot of tanning, she loves going outside and lie on her dog bed in the sun which is as cute as you may think!
I also did a ton of baking. Friday is now really becoming bake Friday. I baked several new recipes, finally got one recipe correct (took 3 tries thanks to the bad translation in the book), and spoiled my hubby and my neighbours with yummy food!
Let’s see, what else? Of course, I also visited all my libraries and had fun reading books from there. I bought some new books to add to my collection (always fun).
Oh, and I just ADORE that the weather is getting a bit warmer and I don’t need many layers but can just go for a shirt and pants or a dress without having to add a sweater. I cannot wait until it really stays warm all the time and I can wear my summer stuff for real!
Book-wise/Reading-wise, a good good month with several amazing reads. Sadly, also some DNF as my mood is still all over the place. It seems to want to read horror, but at same time also not, haha. Confusing!
This upcoming month I got some AMAZING books that I am looking forward to. Like a sparkly new Sarah Dessen which I hadn’t even expected as I thought she didn’t write anymore. Or the second book in The New Girl series by Cassandra Calin! And then there are tons of picture books and non-fiction. A new book by Johanna van Veen. EEP! I cannot wait for this month!
What are your most anticipated reads of the upcoming month? Anything you think I should add (always looking for more horror/romance)? Let me know in the comments below~

That GIF is ADORABLE!
For me, my next read is probably going to be the next few volumes of Pandora Hearts by Jun Mochizuki. I got the first two volumes from my local library, and it really caught my eye with its twisted vibe and Alice in Wonderland inspirations! I also look forward to reading more books in the Hybrid Helix series by JCM Berne, though…
Haha, thank you. I had fun finding GIFs perfect for my posts~
Oh, Pandora Hearts! That is such a fun one, I haven’t read all of it, but I have seen the anime and that one was good! Hope you enjoy. Hopefully you are able to read more of that series!
So far so good on reading more! It’s probably the darkest/goriest manga I’ve read, but the story is so interesting I want to keep reading until I see where it goes. Although, I’m worried about the protagonist’s mental state… he keeps internalizing all the messed-up stuff he sees…
