I received this book from the publisher/Netgalley in exchange of an honest review.

So when I was a kid I watched a lot of this one when it was on television. It was such a kick-ass series with battles, motors, kick-ass characters who were mice aliens, and more. So when I saw this graphic novel I knew I had to try and request it. I didn’t have any luck on Edelweiss, but thankfully Netgalley was kind to me.

It took me a bit to get into this again, especially since this one takes place BEFORE the mice go to earth and have their adventures there. Well, OK, the action and the mice had me all nostalgic, but the setting was a bit confusing, haha. But after a while it was as if I was just watching a new episode (or episodes given that this one is 115 pages) of the Biker Mice from Mars.

There are bad things happening. Bad aliens have invaded Mars and have bad plans for the planet. Which include using a device to cause chaos and hurt and doom. Thankfully, there are the Biker Mice from Mars, Vinnie + Modo + Throttle, who are here to kick some alien butt and to help out wherever they can. They ride on awesome motorcycles and are not afraid for some action. I loved seeing the boys without their injuries/their wounds, curious if the graphic novel will go to that incident.

The last part is all about the one who made the machine that is causing a lot of damage and hurt + the one who made it. Another case of an invention meant to be for good but used for bad. I felt for Hawkii and all she went through, I hope that the mice can help her out.

Not sure how I felt about the villains getting a POV. Those who know me know that I HATE those things. I want to focus on the good guys, I don’t need to see horrible plans being made.

The art. Well, as long as there were no close-ups it was fine, but there were lots of close-ups on faces. Some worked, but a lot of them just gave me nightmares. I am so sorry. It was so scary at times to see my favourite mice from so close up. I am not sure if it was that bad in the OG TV series, it’s been a hot minute since I saw those last, so maybe I just repressed how creepy it looked. But if we look away from the close-ups the art was pretty cool. It really brought back the feel of the old show. Plus, I really liked those between chapter arts!

Oh, and I liked those variant covers, I wouldn’t mind more of Kano!

All in all, I am so happy I got a chance with this one. All the nostalgia! All the kick-ass battles! Seeing Mars and the mice before they head to Earth. I definitely would recommend this for the fans of the series.
