As Long As You're Mine by Jenna Jaxon, two people in an embraceA scandalous mistake…or a wicked way to happiness?

Hoping to compromise herself, Lady Amantha Easton sneaks into the bedroom of her would-be suitor only to find a total stranger there—a totally handsome, charming stranger to be sure—but not at all the man she plans to marry. She leaves his room with her reputation intact—barely—only to fall victim to the gentleman’s charms in a public place. Now Amantha must face the fate she’s tried to avoid—marriage to a man who will never love her.

All Rafael Beauregard wanted was a warm bed and a good night’s sleep…but what he got was an unexpected romp with a beautiful vixen and a fiery kiss that left him wanting more. An excellent trade, except now he’s got to marry Lady Amantha, one of the most willful women he’s ever met. So Rafe’s challenge is to persuade her that marriage to him might be the best thing for them both…once he convinces himself.

Favorite historical/swoony romance

Far and away my favorite historical romance is Jo Beverley’s Devilish. It’s part of her Mallorens & Friends series, set in the Georgian period, and the inspiration for my own House of Pleasure series.
The swoon-worthy hero of Devilish is Beowulf Malloren, Marquess of Rothgar, a gentleman with a sharp wit and a reputation for being cold and deadly with a sword. But he hides deep emotions due to a secret from his past, making him fiercely protective of his family of siblings. Due to his dark past, he has declared he will never marry. Until he meets Diana, Countess of Arrandale, a countess in her own right who is a match for him in every way. Their chemistry leaps off the pages and the reader can only fear (as I did the first time I read it) that their independence and stubbornness will keep them apart in the end.
There is one scene, around the middle of the book, when Rothgar is escorting Diana to London to court. They are beset by assassins on the road and at one point they are standing in the road backs to each other, pistols in each hand. The moment I read that I couldn’t help thinking of one of the final scenes in the movie Mrs. & Mrs. Smith, when Brad and Angelina are in the Homegoods store, fighting against impossible odds, backs together, fighting for their lives. I immediately saw Diana and Rothgar as the 18th century Mrs. & Mrs. Smith. But the book came out before the movie, so I wonder if the writers of movie might have been secret Jo Beverley fans!
As I said before, my House of Pleasure series, and the first book’s main character, the Marquess of Dalbury, is an homage to Beverley and her hero, although I’m not certain my Duncan would be a match for the Dark Marquess. So I absolutely I can recommend Devilish to all fans of historical romance.
