I just couldn’t say no when I saw this adorable book with beautiful art. As a dog lover and now dog owner I just adore dog books and so I am very happy that I can today share my review for this very adorable book that also made me cry several times.

In this gorgeous book we meet a quiet girl full of daydreams (to which I could relate, my ADHD just wants to wander and focussing wasn’t always a priority for my head). She is being home-schooled and while she likes her quiet and peace she also wants a friend. Well, apparently the parents aren’t planning on getting her to school so she can make human friends, they bring her elsewhere. A shelter. For dogs. I absolutely loved that the parents went to a shelter to pick up a dog, and I am sure that afterwards they went to get some fun items (which I would have loved to see). Shelters.. well it doesn’t always work. That is why my hubby and I went for a puppy from a certified breeder as our first dog, because we just had no luck at the shelters. Most dogs there are big or have problems (mostly attitude/bad pasts), not to mention that shelters here are not really giving chances if you never had a dog before in your life, we got so many rejections/no mails. So I was delighted to read that in Zoe’s world there are puppies at the shelter, there are old and younger dogs, and that they can just walk in and see dogs. Though I was shocked by the small cages, here the dogs have a pretty large inside and outside area, at least the shelters that I visited as we were looking when we were given a chance.

I loved seeing Zoe check out each dog, from young to old, see the dogs respond to her, and I was delighted when she met a friend there. That she found a connection with a dog. And that is how Hope came into Zoe’s life! I was worried that maybe Zoe wouldn’t understand or get frustrated when Hope was still settling and just not in the mood to do anything (which is logical after so many years of living at the shelter), but instead she understood, sure she worried, but she quickly found a way to connect with Hope and I was just tearing up so many times while reading. I absolutely loved that! And the ending made me cry as well, that was so pretty and wonderful and I am so happy for both Hope and Zoe! I hope that they have many years of happiness and joy together!

The art? Well, you know that I loved the art. It is really colourful and I just adore the style. It is very soft and fun. The doggies were so cute!
