Review: I’m a Sickly Villainess, but My Fiancé Is So Overprotective I Want to Run Away, Vol.1
What if you isekaied into an otome game as the villainess? What if you find out the reason why she is so villainous and it isn’t what you thought it was.
I was looking around for some new villainess manga to read! I always love those and always want to keep reading them. When I encountered this one I was very curious about it. The title is a bit long (especially so in Japanese) but it intrigued me. So far I am still waiting for Louis to stop being an asshole though, haha. He is slowly changing, but at the end he was still dubious about our MC.
First up, meet Fiona! The MC, and the one our girl was isekai-ed in. She has played the game, she knows what to do. And when she gets into the game she is still WAY ahead before Fiona truly becomes a villainess. So she should be alright? Right? Well, Fiona finds out quickly why Fiona was seen as the villainess. Fiona’s health is horrendous. And that would make anyone grumpy right? If your food isn’t up for your stomach (beef and other hearty stuff). If people expect you to be on the top of your game while you just want to lie in bed. When your fiancee expects you to just walk next to him instead of stumbling behind. Our MC finds out that Fiona at times just spends 3 days sleeping because of a big event. I felt for Fiona. I felt for our MC in Fiona’s body. She was having such big plans and now the first order of business is figuring out how to make her body healthier. I really loved this turn of events. And I was already rooting for our MC/Fiona to figure things out, get healthier, change some opinions, and live a good life.
Thankfully, Fiona/MC is a clever girl. Back when she was still a girl in Japan she was at a bad company and so she focussed a lot on staying healthy. That means she knows her nutrition. She knows her health things. She knows how to fix things. And we quickly see how she steps up. First up she tries to get her food to be lighter and more nutritious which leads to some more misunderstandings with her family and the kitchen staff. But Fiona/MC isn’t daunted, she is going to make herself healthy. Going to make sure that her body gets stronger. And she is more than willing to share her knowledge with the people to make them understand and see what they can do with food/other things.
After that there is more trouble, but I am happy that Fiona/MC spoke up, told the truth (or at least tried to convince people), and I hope that slowly people will change their opinions on her and try to help her out when they notice she isn’t doing well instead of immediately assuming she is a bitch.
For now Louis is an asshole. I mean, he is slowly changing as well, I am at least glad that Fiona/MC had a chance to talk to him. About her feelings. About what kind of an asshole he was. Oh, and if he could just break of the engagement? Haha. So yeah, I am looking forward to seeing Louis change, but he has to do some grand gestures and really start to understand how big of an asshole he was. I think that he may change a bit more if things go to plan in the next volume with Louis’ grandma. Crossing fingers!
The art is really pretty and I like the style!
All in all, I am rooting for this girl to get out of her villainess role and get a happy luxurious and healthy life. Go Fiona/MC!
