Review: Tokyo Fears Rhapsody, Vol. 2
A new Tokyo Fears Rhapsody with some new days out, new work, and new battles that were so kick-ass!
😍 A new character appears who needs to assassinate our boy (and good luck to him, haha), I really liked him though probably because he just wasn’t getting there, haha. He thought it was going to be an easy job, but one thing his boss didn’t tell him was that our boy is immortal/won’t die from just anything. Oh, and I loved his little bird Chunko!
😍 Next up your obligatory beach scene (as with any anime/manga) which I loved though I felt for the poor doctor he is not used to sun and relaxation (seriously, this guy was all like but but and then in the end seemed to at least be able to relax). Add to that our MC and for a moment I thought we would have fun dad/son moment, but alas. XD Dad still rubs his son the wrong way and within seconds there is an argument. I would so love to see these two just get along.
😍 With that beach scene by the way? LOVE the outfits on the butler and the maid. OH MY GOSH. Yes. More of that please. swoons
😍 That reference, or should I say references to Jaws, I was in stitches! I just didn’t expect such a reference to come along but it was just perfect.
😍 That evil fiend send to destroy/battle with our MC x our MC = WOW. That was one kick-ass battle to look at and I loved it. I was cheering for our MC. It was such a cool fight and I loved how the author handled the fighting scenes. Lots of motion, lots of big panels. And then there are the baddies. YES.
😍 And then you are reminded indeed that our MC is truly 5 year old. Not just in how he wants his dad to just give him love, but also in the fact he has no idea how life works. From not knowing basic things to making friends and then asking for playdates because he has no clue what else it is called. It is fun though to see him grow a bit more confident in things, and I think his childlike behaviour is actually kinda cute as it makes him a character you want to root for. You want to see him grow up and get to know the human world more.
😍 I loved seeing him with the Unbelievables, or well one of them. The one he befriended. I love seeing how their conversations at times just go two ways. Each having their own meaning.
😍 The ending was just WOW. I need the third volume ASAP!
😍 And I always love it when manga (and books/other media) add character profiles! This time we got three, our MC, his dad, and our butler. I hope that we get many more as the story continues!
All in all, this was a volume packed with fun! I loved every moment and I love how despite it at times being episodic we still have one continuing story running underneath it all. I cannot wait to read more of this series.
