Come to the fete! There is cakes! Fun things to do! And a mystery!

As I had hoped when I read the first book this book features another colour! This time the colour of the illustrations is yellow! I love it when books do a colour per book~

💖 Love the illustrations and how they connect/tell the story by conversations or in other ways. It just makes everything even more fun and I love seeking out clues in the illustrations.
💖 Baking competition! I want to be part! But also not because I just don’t do well under stress, haha. But the baking competition was just so much fun and I loved seeing what everyone was planning to make, see the chaos as everyone rushed to get the best ingredients, loved seeing the bakes turn from just nothing to a gorgeous thing, and yes, I got hungry!
💖 The mystery and the sabotaging. How it was done was such a cool way and I can only applaud for the criminal for thinking up such an elaborate plan. And I loved helping out our duo to figure out the whodunnit and the why. I have to say I didn’t guess the suspect, that person just totally slipped my mind (whoops) and I was like, oh yes, that person still exists, haha. I really loved that Watts and Whiskerton were allowed to do it and everyone took them seriously, that is definitely a change from how a lot of these books go with young detectives in them.
💖 I loved how sweet the parents are. Watts was a bit unsure/insecure about him wanting to be a detective but he had an interest in it and would love to at least give it a try. So I loved that Whiskerton helped him when he didn’t dare make the announcing himself, that was so sweet of her. And the parents, again, they were so sweet and supportive. They were happy for their son but also gave him room, made sure he could talk to them if needed, but let him go for most part.
💖 Whiskerton figuring out a new side to herself which made me smile. I hope that she is able to do many more fun things and discovers more sides to herself.
💖 The parents as judges! And how they tackled it as how they would a mystery/a stolen gem or item. It made me giggle, I loved their dedication and how they even went so far to research baking techniques, tried out various cakes before the competition to know what to look for, and more.
💖 The fete itself. I want to go! Oh let me go! Book teleportation device, let’s go!

As you can read I had a lot of fun with this one and I would highly recommend this one (and the rest of the series).
