I received this book from the publisher on Netgalley in exchange of an honest review.

OMG, imagine my delight when I was approved for this book! I have had my eyes on this one for a while now, it was on my list to get/read when it came out. It just sounded so cute and adorable. Thank you to the publisher for approving my request!

And now after reading, this was such a mood. I was laughing my butt off while reading and having such a blast. I never expected so many things and I love that the author managed to surprise me so many times with the story.

In this one we meet a little axolotl named Ella. She, according to her stepsisters, is not the most beautiful of all, which I found rude because I thought Ella looked adorable and I loved her colour. And what do you do when there is a big festival in town and you want to woo some people? Well, some may call for a fairy godmother. But not Ella. Ella has another plan. She goes back to the waters of her birth and does a lovely dance and rhyme and VOILA, magic! I really enjoyed seeing Ella go here not just once, but several times. Yes, this is a festival. Multiple days of dancing. And you gotta look good for each day/night of that. I loved seeing Ella transform, hurry to the festival, and have a blast. Or well, maybe not with the prince. I was constantly wondering why/how she was putting up with him because all he does is blab blab blab blab and not give his partner/Ella a chance to say anything. But that all is revealed at the end, and no I won’t spoil it but I was just dying in laughter and then clapping with the pure glee, go Ella (though girl did you have to tell him to grow THAT?). And there are more surprises that had me giggling, I was already wondering in what way the prince may search for his girl, well, it was absolutely brilliant (though I had another big laugh at his face before the search). I really appreciate the author going for the Cinderella experience (midnight, evil/mean stepsisters, ball, prince, transformation, magic) but now add axolotls and all that makes them what they are (so be prepared for some facts). This story was just endlessly fun.

I am sorry, but I just snorted out loud and almost spat up my mint tea when Ella just stuck her tongue at the very uncomfortable shoes. I fully agree with her there, but it was such a moment that I was just snorting. Go Ella!

The art was such a delight and I love the way the axolotls looked (so many colours), loved the surroundings, well I just loved it all!

All in all, if you are tired of the same old Cinderella story, be sure to check this one out. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! I will be adding this one to my collection when I can~
