Hi!

Welcome all to a hot melted Sunday’s TBR Updates!

As you may read, it is hot. The whole week has had temperatures of around or over 30C. And normally this girl can handle that mostly well, but with perimenopause it was just a week from hell. Sweating, feeling as if I turned into a pool myself, barely sleeping or waking up often because everything was wet, yuck. The temperatures are slowly going down again, but it is humid as heck still. It doesn’t help that our homes don’t have airco/AC, so we are just getting by with ventilators (small and bigger sizes), a kiddie pool in the garden, keep the house as dark as we can, eating ice cream, and not doing a whole lot. My hubby is hoping to check for AC and possibilities after the summer and hopefully next year (or the year after) we can get things a bit cooler. So yeah, this week was mostly just doing nothing, haha. Sitting on a chair or lying on bed with the ventilator blasting.
On Saturday though it was just a pinch cooler and so I visited Library #3 with my hubby when we saw it was open for the day (lots of things closed over the week) and after that I made Lemon Slices and Lemon/Ginger boterkoek. And while waiting for those kiddie pool it was, haha.
Reading-wise, well, the week started OK-ish, but when the heat got over 30C I just wasn’t able to read much text. So I turned to manga + graphic novels (Kindle/Comics Plus/other places) and the picture books/photography books next to my bed. I am so sad, because I got a new book that I had been looking forward to much but all I can do is just read bits and pieces when I feel right.

What did I read from my TBR? Grim Night Tales 2 (OMG OMG OMG this was amazing), Do You Believe in Ghosts (a bit chaotic but really spooky and fun), Oase Oranjewoud (a pretty book full of art), Kinderikjes (hilarious, some of these made me laugh so loud), De nieuwe school (I want more Wiska, this was cute), Tokyo Revengers all of them (an exciting fun series with lots of twists and I am rooting for Takemichi), Pep en het vliegende scheetkussen (a bit disgusting, but in overall I had lots of fun), Oma Tineke (a bit too bizarre/too far-fetched for me), Insta Girls (eww AI and eww dumb decisions).

I tried and dropped (and at least tried a chapter or so)? Een nacht met de gouvernante (didn’t like his POV), Wij komen in vrede (yawn/too much repetition), Het monsterjte uit mijn mystery box (didn’t like how the monster talked and didn’t like the “friends”), Feeding Ghosts (so much text and I expected more travel and less mental health/familial relationships).

And here is a new stack! Not shown is De Laatste Dochter, which I have been trying to read for counts 3 days now. It is just too gosh darn hot and I just want to read manga or something less tiring.
