“Let’s do the dinosaur! One, two, three and…. everybody ROAR!” 

When I spotted this one at the library how could I resist? It looked adorable, there were dinosaurs, and it felt like it had a fun rhythm!

In this adorable book we meet a little boy in a dinosaur pyjama onesie who is apparently living in the dinosaur time. At the start of the book he drums up all his friends to play a game. His gang of dinosaurs are super cute and range from tiny to bigger dinosaurs. And then it is time to play the game! Are you ready? Swish your tail! Stomp around! And more! Each time Tom (our dino boy) shows what he wants his friends to echo. It is enormously cute and I found myself swishes and shaking on my chair (sadly, I would love to have done more but today is not a good body day so I will stick to sitting) and curious what would be next! As one knows I am not generally a big fan of repetition but I didn’t mind it in this one because each new move is done in a new location! And there are even some surprises. What if you have to do it real quiet sssshhh or what if you meet one of my favourite BIG BIG dinosaurs? The book really keeps the tension and fun in it throughout the story and I loved every moment of it.

I also love how this one ended, with them all piled up going to sleep (because all that moving made the day go by and they are sure tired). This would make a perfect bedtime story this way. You can do all sorts of fun moves with our new dinosaur friends (and boy in dinosaur onesie) and then just like them go to sleep. I think kids will have a great time. You can even do it in bed if you don’t want the kids to go all wild, but I think it is more fun to just get active. Stomp and roar and get all tired!

The art was just so pretty and I love the style. I also appreciate the author not going for the current way dinosaurs are drawn (aka feathers, eww) but went with how I remember them from my childhood. Much better! I also love the use of colours and the backgrounds.

All in all, if you want a fun interactive and active bedtime story I would recommend it! Perfect!
