Review: Adventuremice: Mousehole to the Centre of the Earth
Are you ready for a new adventure with our mice? This time we are going deep into the ground to a new world!
When I was deciding which AdventureMice to add next this one along with the mummies one were my top choices! I just adored this title because of the Jules Verne book and I was curious what kind of adventures our little mouse group would have and what they would discover.
Before we start this review I just want to scream one thing. HAMSTERSAURUS! Now why am I so excited? Because I just ADORE hamsters and I love T-rex/dinosaurs, so a combo of the two? Dream! Thank you to Sarah and Philip for making this dream come true and I just adored this little guy. Yes, he was a bit destructive, but believe me, when hammies are THAT they will do the same. They will chew and break. And I just adore what the plan eventually was for the little guy and I would LOVE to see this one again with the addition plans the mice made. Because those looked so fun!
Now on to the rest now that I got the HAMSTERSAURUS cough out of my system, or at least, mostly. In this one we meet our AdventureMice as they are just having a chill afternoon. That is until Uncle Bernie (chaos professor/inventor) appears with something new. A mechanical mole! Of course, Pedro is excited and convinces the others (or at least some) to get on board and check it out. As per expectations because apparently Bernie’s inventions aren’t always working that well, they end up in pure chaos and wild ride that leads them to a whole new world and now I got that song in my head, thanks ADHD. That is right, you heard me, a whole new world full of strange signs, pterodactyl just the right size for a mouse to ride, waterfalls, serenity, and more. Boy did I want to step into these pages and just experience it for myself because the illustrations just made me jealous I couldn’t step inside. I loved that chaos happened soon and that we meet some new characters that I definitely hope to spot in later books as well. I just loved that the AdventureMice both had fun with their new friends and learning all about the land and how the mice live, but also figure out a way to help them.
Yes, help. Do you remember what I said? HAMSTERSAURUS! That one is roaming around and making a mess of things and the mice are terrified. To be fair, I could understand both sides. And I just adored seeing the mice make up plans, figure out things, and more. It was so much fun, especially when the pterodactyls started coming in play!
The ending made me smile and I loved that Pedro thought things through and came to a sensible conclusion, good job Pedro!
And like always, the illustrations were absolutely brilliant.
All in all, I love this series so much and I cannot wait to read more of them + see more of them appear, hopefully many more are written. Highly recommended for those in need for an adventure fix with fun characters!
