Category: Teaser Tuesday

Grab a current read, open to a random page (either by flipping through it, using a randomizer, or let my boyfriend pick), and pick 2 (or more) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page, write them down, pick a cover, and done.

Credit for this one (though I changed Tuesday to Thursday): Should Be Reading blog

Edit: This used to be on Thursday, but I am changing it to Tuesday as it works better that way.

I let Random.org select a % and it choose 41%.

She nods her head, and I walk away from her. I force myself not to text her or go to her room, and I thought staying celibate for this contract assignment would be the hardest thing I’ve ever had to do. It turns out, walking away from her has to be the hardest thing I’ve ever done in my life.

Teaser Thursday ~ Dreamfall

I had Random.org select a page and it selected page 184.

Something lunges from our right, cutting Sinclair and me off from the rest of the group: a saint whose mournful eyes are directed toward the ceiling as he nears. What looks like real blood drips from perfectly rounded stone holes in the centers of his palms and feet, pooling on the marble floor as he moves silently toward us. Slowly, his eyes lower and focus on me, and his hands reach forward clawing the air.

I picked today’s TT out myself. 🙂 I just flipped through it and stopped at page 165 (and a bit of 166).

An hour later, it was time for lunch. Nobody had really won British Tortoise – Benny had wandered off the playground towards the patchy grass side area, in search of… patchy grass, basically.. which meant the kids’ team had to follow him there. Then Bjornita had been frightened by all the noise and just retreated into her shell, which meant the teachers had to curl up into little balls with their hands over their hands at the other end of the playground.

Teaser Thursday ~ Midnight at Moonstone

Teaser Thursday ~ Midnight at Moonstone

I had Random.org select a page and it decided on page 105.

They finished the washing-up and after that there was nothing for Kit to do but go up to bed. She cleaned her teeth and put on her pyjamas, but she didn’t think there was much chance she would actually sleep. All she could think about was the costumes. Would they come to life again?
Time was edging relentlessly closer to midnight.

Today my fiance had a chance to pick a page number and he decided on page 133!

No more than two or three drops fell, but they hit him directly on the head. And that was when I knew, without any doubt at all, that I was right. Vladimir screamed and leapt out of his chair. The book tumbled to the floor. As Nathalie rushed across from the kitchen, he stood there, one hand pressed against his face. It was as if he was being burned alive. I couldn’t believe that a minuscule amount of water could have such an effect. But of course, this wasn’t ordinary water. And this wasn’t an ordinary man.

Teaser Thursday ~ Arlo Finch in the Valley of Fire

Teaser Thursday ~ Arlo Finch in the Valley of Fire

I let Random.org select a page, and it selected page 105 (though since the last sentence continues in 106, a bit of that page is here as well).

As Arlo got closer, he realized the “cliff” was actually just a massive wedge of rock embedded in the hillside. At most it was ten feet above the ground. It looked much higher because the mountain sloped away from it, revealing the whole valley. Climbing up beside his sister, Arlo could see the town of Pine Mountain below: the flat roof of the school, the church steeples, the gas station sign. Everything looked tiny, like the buildings of a model train.

I let Random.org pick a % and it went for 19%!

There’s no gradual transition from town or country here. No scattered houses or fields or orchards. As soon as we pass the petrol station, we’re in the desert, with nothing but four hundred kilometres of scrub between us and Hansbach.
I gently ease my foot down on the accelerator. The Holden’s engine growls and the ute surges forward. It feels a little bit like driving off a cliff -I have no idea what we’ll find at the bottom, and if we get stuck there’ll be no one to come and rescue us.

I let random.org select a page and it selected page 111 (though part of this teaser is also on 112).

‘Yes, sir,’ said Lemmy. ‘And your name?’
‘Mr Grayson,’ said the cat. ‘I want a quiet room. No disturbances. A saucer of milk left outside my door at sunrise, and breakfast at seven a.m.. Litter tray, not toilet – cleaned twice daily.’
‘Certainly, sir,’ said Lemmy, hastily filling out the entry in the guestbook.

Teaser Thursday ~ Stripped Down

Today is Valentine’s Day, so I went for 14% (as this is an ebook).

She was biting her lip and wrinkling her nose simultaneously. “Well, at least let me do something.”
God if she only knew what he wanted. Watching her, nothing had changed. He still felt attracted to Sloane. She was wearing a tank top that showed off her breasts in a way that made his mouth water.
