Lightning sparked outside, and as it did, Mara caught a glimpse of something white fluttering in the hallway outside her bedroom. Mara pointed her flashlight at the doorway, but nothing was there. She ran to the door anyway and looked out into the hallway. At the far end, a flash of white disappeared around the corner, in the direction of Jesse’s room.
